On the plus side, my never go west of Taco Bell theory holds up, even though it's next door.

You never went to Michael's?  That place had great greasy food and entertainment between 3:30 and 5am!  The only time I ever saw a ho beat up her pimp was at Michael's :)

Oh Michael's, oh I have missed stumbling home from 21st and Michigan and eating a delicious Dagwood.

Looks like they have fancied up there a menu a bit since the early aughts.

Even 25 years ago, Michaels was a great place to go for breakfast after a long night out.

a "group" of people(4) started arguing and fighting.  then one of them started shooting, hitting three of them.  that's usually the way to end a fight, but does he really win?  can you carry a gun around in milwaukee?

You can but you are not allowed to as it it is against the law unless you get a holstered gun permit.

Yes.  In a 4 person deathmatch, shooting the other three people and escaping uninjured is considered a W.

Quotecan you carry a gun around in milwaukee?

You can buy handguns anywhere in the US.  What are the police going to do?  Stop everyone everywhere checking their waistbands?

If you're the type of person that's going to shoot 3 people outside of Michael's at 5am, you're not the type of person that's particularly concerned about your local concealed carry laws.

After a long night of drinking I would have to go East to get to Michaels.  Made for some interesting walks.  Delicious stuff, however.  Often pontificated over the quality of the hash browns.

Only exception would be the Rave for a good concert.

That would have been tough for those of us who lived at West Hall.
Never wrestle with a pig.  You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.

And to stop at the Ambassador Hotel for a drink with my friend Jeffrey.  And to West Hall to sleep.  And to Ricky's for some cans of beer and girlies.  And to mackdonalds.

West Hall was a dorm located at Wisconsin & 27th. Two blocks west of McDonald's. I cannot imagine any student living that far out these days.

I don't know when but it is a field now. 27th and Wisconsin.

Oh yeah.. and what about the VFW... well worth the trip west, at least at age 18.

Where was that dude Jose's spot?  It was like his house, but with a little restaurant on the main floor.. he'd fix you up some good mexican food up in there... I can't remember exactly where it was though.

I think West Hall went bye bye in.. 1993?  .. Judy's

Jose's was up by John the Muffler Man up on like 23rd and Wells. I loved how all of the Burrita's (not a Burrito) were named after NFC Central teams. That was a great start to a Friday night.

It's like the time my friends and went to a party on 15th and Highland.  Yumma humma, the only, and last time we traveled past State.

I live at 2040's right now.  Every time I hit up Michael's or Taco Bell I need to remind myself that I only live a block down the street.  This makes me feel both secure and all the more terrified at the same time.

I'll never forget, at Freshman orientation (in August '79), we were instructed to NEVER TRAVEL NORTH OF STATE STREET.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.
