With the class he has coming in I really hope he stays at MU and keeps building our basketball program. I would really hate for another coach to go running away from the program as soon as a "better" job comes up. He does a good job of recruiting kids from all over the country not just Texas. I think he has a good chance of making a good run at the NCAA championship year after year if he stays and brings in guys like he has been.

The probelm I have is the notion that it is a better job. Crean certainly thought Indiana was and maybe it will be someday. But you have to wonder if he still thinks it was worth it.

+1072 for how many days he's been here, and here's to hoping for 10720 more.

I completely agree! I was thinking during the Big East Tournament how good Buzz would be in 35 years. One of the announcers during the game was discussing how Jim Boeheim had been a coach that long. Buzz has done a great job and I can't even imagine how great he would be if he had that many years in the business.

"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

I love Buzz and of course hope he stays around for awhile. The good thing is we're going to find out here in the very near future if he really is a man of his word, which I might add I think he is.

TheFarEastMovement

Please stay Buzz! You are building something big at MU. Don't bail on us at this point.

MUWeb7

Buzz, you are wanted. Please stay at Marquette! We value you as a coach and a human being.

Hey, the sun will come up tomorrow. Funny how someone's backyard is anothers front lawn.

Fans get frustrated with tough losses and say -- and write -- dumb things. Losing Buzz at this point would badly damage the program. I hope he stays for many, many years. He did a great job keeping us afloat at a very high level after Crean bailed on us for a program no better than ours.

Look, I like Buzz and hope he stays, but I don't think it would be "devastating" to the program if we had to replace him if he went elsewhere. O'Neill, Crean and Buzz have all worked out for MU, and even Deane won a lot of games. I'm confident Cottingham would make a decent hire if he had to do so in a couple weeks or a month or however long it takes.

warriorfred

I hope stays at least another year for continuity.  But it is a business, and if he thinks other schools are better opportunities, it would be difficult to hold it against him.

I'm not convinced OU and Ark are better opportunities.

+1 oh wait, you're under 200 posts...nm.

Buzz is a man of his word and I trust him.  Here's to a long run at MU

Unless one of the schools has specifically reached out to him and the speculation grows, it would be premature to address the rumors publicly.

MUBalla23

I just really hope this doesnt affect the play of our team friday

HoopsMalone

I guarantee he addresses with his young team.  He may not say anything publicly, but there is a 100% chance that he will be very upfront with those guys.

I thought some support would be refreshing for a relatively new coach that has taken our team to the tournament in his first three years. What do you guys do? Jump on the media bandwagon and then become resentful of OUR CURRENT (not former) coach and for what? My God, let's support the guy not speculate unnecessarily about something before MU's most important game of the year.

Enough of this garbage. Let's talk hoops. We're in the tourney and everyone is looking past it. It's really sad.

I'd love to see what Buzz can do with his players.  I have a hunch that we are going to see some great teams on the floor this year.  I can't imagine Buzz having just come back from MSG not wanting to coach there again.  MU has a ton going for it.

Masterr73

I would like a coach who could actually coach and recruit kids who aren't just JUCOs.

dgies9156

Look, I've fussed about Buzz probably more than most. But a post to a series of questions I raised after Seton Hall posed some interesting answers, most notably that Buzz is a young coach and, as he matures, he will be a great coach.

The last thing we want is for Buzz to leave Marquette. We lost some good ones over the years, KO and Majerus to cite two, and the program suffered. Apart from the musical coaching issues we've faced with KO and Traitor Tommy, a new head coach means starting over and that means three years before we're really good again.

If you look at the programs to which we aspire -- Duke, UConn, Syracuse, North Carolina, Kansas, Georgetown and even Notre Dame -- they all have had relative coaching stability during the past decade or two. Great pospects know that and know what they're buying into for four years.

For all Buzz's weaknesses (and strengths), we need him to climb into college basketball's elite. I hope like heck he stays!
