Actually, Andy North is a University of Florida alumnus, not UW.

However, I find it hilarious that Bo uses Andy in recruiting. Only old men give a chit about Andy North.

Lol. I never knew that as he is always all over UW.  Makes it somehow weirder.

Andy grew up in Madison, that's the connection.

An unbelievable story. Seems almost made up. Surprised it wasn't a bigger story.

I had to Google who Andy North is.

I'm guessing that you're under 60 years old.

Her brother committed suicide following a bout of depression.  She has also been diagnosed with depression and left her husband and children for this alternative life in Vegas.

I see it as a sad story and happy that her family is struggling to get her help and put their lives back together.

In the late 1990s she was one of the world's top milers she was ranked #1 in the world at the 2000 Sydney Olympics when she bizarrely collapsed in the middle of the race, it took her years to come to grips with this event (depression related).

On a lighter note, she did what I think was one of the better Nike commercials ever.

Wow, Dick Cheney. Now there is a guy that had balls the size of Mt. Everest.

Honorable mention for alumni: Donna Shalala, even though she may not be an alumni. What a great porno flick that could have been made out of Clinton's Kitchen Cabinet: Shalala, Hillary and Janet Reno, all fimed by Janet Napolitano.
And Judge Napolitano of Fox would give it a PG rating.

You can throw Robert Reich in there as well for those midget porn aficionados.
Have some patience, FFS.

I have a Robert Reich story.

Some background, when I was in high school, I attended this week long program in Washington DC called Presidential Classroom.  My brother (also a Marquette alum) attended PC two years after me.  In 1994 they held a 25th anniversary of the program dinner in DC and they invited all program alumni back to attend the celebration.  My brother and I and a few of our friends who were obviously also alumni decided to attend simply to take in a weekend of partying in DC.

The event was attended by mostly much older people and there were only a half-dozen other early-20s people in attendance.  Some of the notable alumni did show up.  Actress Angela Bassett, we had a nice conversation with Anne Compton who was DC Correspondent for ABC News at that time, some astronaut and then Secretary of Labor Robert Reich.  He was actually very friendly open and chatty and yes, short.  Near the end of the conversation, my friend brought up improving the economy and somehow the term "impossible job" came up.  Knowing other people were seeking his attention, he thanked us for the conversation and said he needed to find his wife.  My brother filled in his own joke here, stating, "Now, there's an impossible job!

It was not meant as a short joke, but it was obvious the Secretary heard it that way and with a smirk on his face he just walked away leaving us with a story for a lifetime.

It helped that she owned up quickly, apologized, and pretty much moved on with her life outside of the spotlight.  She's still married.  Raising a family in the Madison area.

I think most people went "well that was strange," and moved on.

And they have one or two kids who will someday, if not now, know and understand the story.  That'll be tough.  Wish them the best and hope things work out.

That's actually pretty common. Olympic athletes get depressed and become call girls.

She's definitely got some issues, must love the d.   What can you do but try to move on though.  I have a feeling she's the type that might have continued problems though.

I think it is incredibly sad. Depression is a very powerful mental illness. Her actions are so extreme and out of character to how she lived previously that hopefully she was able to get the help that she needed. It's just an incredibly bizarre and, at the same time, sensational story. Best of luck to her and her family.

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.
