Spoke with Juan earlier today, but finally got time to pound out the story...

Wow...he is coming back for Midnight Madness?

Very very cool for him to make that commitment and hopefully help recruit a couple of other kids to join him at MU.

chapman

Great article, thanks IWB!  Seems like a perfect fit for MU.  And definitely cool and unexpected that he's coming for Madness.

ATL MU Warrior

Nice story...sounds like a great kid from a good family.  Am looking forward to watching him for the next few years.

NersEllenson

Great article..and from all of us at Warrior/Golden Eagle nation..YES, we are excited to have you Juan!!  Enjoy Midnight Madness.

Does anybody else here wish they actually still had Marquette Madness at Midnight?

Thanks for sharing the link IWB!

Nice plug for Benford also.  It's not always all about Buzz!

"Their facilities are great, they really do have great facilities, but with that group, and their mentality, it doesn't matter what the facilities are like, get a ball and put us on some hardwood anywhere, and we will work and improve."

I LOVE this kids attitude, he sounds exactly like the kind of player that will flourish at Marquette. Welcome to the family Juan!

great article, love how he calls the basket "the cup"

YES. Absolutely.

Part of the reason you have recruits at Madness is to show them a great, wild atmosphere. Give the students some time to get some alcohol in them and get the place rowdy.

With Haunted Hoops the week after, the "what about the kids" argument doesn't hold much water with me.

Blackhat

Even if you start it at 10:00, old people and kids won't be able to handle that.

the scrotum-less MU married men could still handle it(and maybe the wifey too).

Polish a 6 pack of Lite, head to MM till midnight, then go bird dog beaver at the bars.

Ellenson Guerrero

Is it just me, or is the "its all about the academics" argument played out and fake. If it really were "all about the academics" wouldn't have Anderson gone to Cal?

y'all should know his AAU coach, Ray Young. Stud CA prep then a solid player at UCLA.
He was the next hyped player out of St. Joe's Alameda after Kidd.

I'm glad that "he's a popular."

With Joe Fulce as his host I wonder how the Spanish O'D's played into this recruitment?

The silky vocal renderings of our very own Spanish O'Donnell's was key to Juan Anderson's signing. Upon hearing those very first golden notes he knew he was in the presence of greatness. The only question was what pen to use to sign his NLI.

We are so very fortunate to have the Spanish O'Donnell's as our silver tongued ambassadors of wholesome goodness. Their smooth take offs on the hard work of the truly talented is humbling. Only Weird Al Yankovich has prospered more from the diligence of others.

Has to be a  great pick-up. He sounds like he's a pretty polished, intelligent kid - either that or he's already got a press agent. Wouldn't sell the Academics short - don't think he's talking about how many Nobel prizes the faculty has won, but rather the emphasis placed on players succeeding academically and the resources devoted to that happening. It should be fun to watch this kid develop.

Excellent point mileskishnish72. Believe it or not, Cal has a graduation rate of 20%, a full 80 percentage points below ours.

Mr. Nielsen

That's cool he is coming to Marquette Madness. I can't wait to see him.

"I have a pretty high basketball IQ for high school, but the next level is completely different, and I have to continue to learn more about myself and the game."

Ba-zinga.  Exactly the attitude that will make Buzz's system a success.

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Maybe he didn't want to spend his next 4 years with a bunch of liberals. :)
