If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's probably a Badger basketball player.  Fits the characteristics to a tee.

Let me guess: 6'3'', can shoot the ball, has trouble creating own shot, can pass effectively, will thrive in the Swing because he's versatile, and has no problem laying a towel on his left shoulder?

Seems like they have the future locked down.

Correct.  It begs the question, can Bo recruit over a player when he only recruits one type of player?

thebadge10

Try a 6'8/ 6'9 point forward who has been compared to Gordan Heyward, Kyle Singler, Robbie Hummell, and Jon Leuer.  A kid who has been named MVP of at least three spring AAU tourneys, including the first of the NYtoLA tourneys in Mequon. This kid is blowing up right now. Very impressive player who hasn't been evaluated yet on a national level!

Did you intentionally select four white guys?

Regardless, I think he'll look great when Jamil posterizes him in a couple of years.

MU B2002

but if he has been compared to players from different universities around the country, isnt that the "national level"?  ;-)

Good for the Badgers, as long as MU ends up with the W.

For those of you who can't get the link to load (like me), the kids name is Jarrod Uthoff.  He's from Cedar Rapids, IA, and is a 6'8" 200lb PF.

Badger fans must be flooding the internet.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

Quote from: muguru
No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

It must have been a surprise to the other schools because according to this article:

"One of the top high school basketball players in the state of Iowa's 2011 recruiting class will make his collegiate choice today.

Cedar Rapids Kennedy senior-to-be Jarrod Uthoff is a 6-foot-8, 200-pound power forward. He recently improved his stock this summer during AAU competition.

Uthoff will today most likely choose between Iowa or Iowa State but Butler, Illinois, Indiana, Creighton and Northern Iowa are all still in play for Uthoff's services. It widely expected around the state that the Hawks and Fran McCaffery are the favorites to land the all-stater."

Amazing. Bo with the "steal"...

But I wonder: How did he announce his "decision"?

Looks "like" Diener but sounds like Napoleon Dynamite:

6'8" dominates...on smaller opponents. This vid is really deceiving. But the kid's got freakishly log arms. I wouldn't be surprised he grew some in college:

probably a more accurate vid:

He announced it when he was leaving for a tournament to Las Vegas. The guy who wrote that article(It's from examiner so using that as a legit source is a joke) obviously wasn't up to date on Uthoff's recruitment because his final 6 were Wisconsin, Butler, Iowa, Iowa State, Illinois, and Notre Dame. He hasn't been evaluated yet by Rivals, but my guess it when it's all said and done he'll probably be a top 150 player.

Probably a great kid to represent Wisconsin.  Class President and 4.0 GPA.

Guy Fieri's Dad

Where's his hood?  Or do they give that to him once he gets to Madison?

esotericmindguy

Good Lord you guys are ridiculous, seems like a good pickup for Wisco...

Blackhat

We can say this, I don't think UW and MU have targeted a more different type of player since I've been alive.

Not much competition between the two schools for players which I guess is a positive.

Bo coaches em up that's for sure though.   He's a team defense guru.

kmwtrucks

Unlike some, I want Wisc to be good, which will make us beating them that much better.  Having one of your top Rivals not be good (Depaul) is not good for MU.

Actually some people who commented on his YouTube video said as much.  Kid looks like he can pass, but his "highlight" video didn't show me a whole lot else.  Will need a lot of work in the strength area to be a player at Wisconsin.

Looks like a decent player who will fit in well for Bo. However, based entirely on those short videos, it looks to me as if smaller D1 players will have little trouble guarding him, and bigger athletic players will make it difficult for him to stay on the floor. Will probably be a typical , nothing special, solid contributor at UW. Nothing wrong with that.

We all know how valuable the opinions of these coaches have been around here.  We could probably take on the Heat if the collective opinions of high school/AAU/JUCO coaches were a reality.
