There is no doubt in my mind about this list. It is flawless. I couldn't imagine a more fantastic day.

Breakfast - Hot Pastrami Sandwich from the Broken Yolk

Lunch - Philly Cheese Steak with extra cheese from Marquette Gyros

Dinner - Tex Mex and a large cheese curd from the Dog Haus

ZiggysFryBoy

uh, where's real chili on this list?

oh yeah, that would be at 2:30 am.

gjreda

In my four years at MU, I've never heard of anyone getting a philly from Gyros.  It's all about their burgers.

A day without REAL CHILI is a day without sunshine

TexMex

I was strictly referring to on Marquette's campus. sobelmans is not on campus. Real Chili is dead! and as far as the Philly cheese steak goes.... don't knock it until you try it. I was totally against it at first but now I truly understand the joy that it can give.

+1. and the Dogg Haus is ridiculously over-priced.

Is dogg house on the corner of 17th and wells??  If so, back when is in school it was a convenience store with beer.  A friendly one.  Over the summer before junior year we built much furniture from the surprisingly sturdy cases of Old Milwaukee in Campus Town.  Impressive TV stand, no doubt.

Marquette GYROS, were fantastic.  Food, doubled as a cologne for a day after.  At one apartment, after eating it or 80% eating it, we'd throw out the leftovers into the hallway of the apartment cause we didnt' want the dirt stank of the gyros in our apartment..

Dairy Queen Chicken strip baskets were a staple for awhile

EDIT also that drunk window at ziggy's with cheeseburgers
The portal is NOT closed.

GGGG

Until I can once again get a cheddar burger with fried mushrooms, listening to Led Zeppelin on the box, from Wales on Wells, there is no thing as a "perfect MU food day."

drewm88

Perfect food day needs Real Chili, a gyro from Gyros, Sobelman's (if you count it), and Angelo's pepperoni pizza.

TexMex

I will have an order of the large cheese curds and small cheese curds. Thank you!

Quite possibly the worst list of MU food I've seen.

12:00AM: Whatever is left over from Hegarty's kitchen before close. Usually a plate of fries is comped on the house.

2:30AM: Almost two bowls of Real Chili. The second bowl often goes unfinished as cracker throwing ensues, jackets are generally left behind as well.

11:30AM: Taco Bell from 21st and Wisconsin. Generally, you order way too much and have to run back to your apartment before sharting your pajamas.

4:30PM: Double Sobleman Burger. The hunger pangs return after spending the last several hours with the blinds shut, with several trips to the bathroom. A double Sobelman Burger with a pitcher of Miller Lite preps you for the night.

10:30PM: Marquette Gyro, with extra sauce.

3:00AM: Put a frozen pizza into the oven, only to leave to pass out and let it burn setting the fire alarm off. Try to salvage a few bites, generally more effort than reward.

I have to agree. What's wrong with you?

wyoMUfan

I disagree with the original post. If I was still in school and was loaded (very poor alwasy) this would be the #1 day

Basketball game day.....

1.Real chili for breakfast before hitting up a pregame kegger
2. Quick Jimmy Johns for lunch before goin to Murphys
3. Angelos Pepperoni Pizza for dinner
4. Marquette Gyro after bars and before bed...or before the after bar party...

What is the Broken Yolk?

It's mainly a breakfast place in the same building as the 2040 Lofts (20th and Wisconsin). Decent food, decent prices, crowded as hell on weekend mornings. That building also has Sal's Pizza.

If it is after 2002, it is new to me, so I am assuming 2040 lofts and Sal's would fall into that category.

Is it in the block before Taco Bell and Michaels?  (If both of those are even still there.)

No love for the hooters that used to be in the Grand Ave Mall?  Always choice running into a girl you recognized from your Poli Sci class.

Chili

My friends and I were fans of Jose's up on Well's which was Home of the Burrita which were named after the teams of the NFC Central.
But I like to throw handfuls...

I'm guessing you're in bed by 2:00 if you think Real Chili is dead.

Yes it is, and yes those are still there. 2040 is an upscale expensive new apartment building. Sal's is a NY style pizza place.

LA

I saw mention of the restaurant, but no love for the Dagwood at Michaels at 3am????

Where else can you see a fight between two real life pimps? If you haven't been to Michael's restaurant on a Friday or Saturday night you haven't experience MU to the fullest.

Just make sure you remember to prepay after 9pm.  Oh how I miss the Monte Cristo at Michaels.

I was always a fan of the Marquette Special ($1.99 for 2 eggs, hash browns and toast) with a side of biscuits and gravy at around 4.30am. All of that for under $5.00.
