According to some Badger insiders.

Edit: had to edit the title.  Too bogus otherwise.

What bugs me the most about that thread is the smugness regarding UW's admission standards.  Athletes get in all the time that wouldn't stand a chance otherwise.  John Clay, who is going to be a hell of a RB at UW, probably couldn't get into UW-Oshkosh if he weren't a football player.

77ncaachamps

If that's the truth, he's a heckuva talent to go elsewhere.

Would loved to have seen him don the blue and gold...streaking on fast breaks with Jeronne!

I read about 2 posts in that thread and became annoyed.  Anyone care to summerize the MU related portions?

Ellenson Guerrero

This is a dumb post. Am I really to believe Blue is no longer interested in MU because some Badger fans said so. I really have no idea what this kid is leaning towards or thinking about but I'm pretty positive everyone on that board is in the same position I am.

On a side note, we should just continue to beat the stank out of UW and they will learn to keep their mouths shut.

True.

I must have missed something.  The post/threads talk more about McNeal, Matthews and James not being drafted than any pertinent information regarding Blue and any statements he made regarding his recruitment.

dennycrane

More important than what is being said in the linked thread is that after Blue decided not to attend Marquette's camp a couple of people from the other MU boards reported MU's waning interest in Blue.

http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=415&f=2850&t=4407413

Clearly Buzz cooled on Blue and UW is only hoping to pick up some of MU's recruiting scraps.

I don't disagree with what IWB and Mark have said, but the camp should not be used as proof of that.  Even if MU was going after him hard, Blue wasn't going anywhere that weekend.  He had final exams the next week, and made the smart decision awhile ago to stay home and study.  The more telling thing would be if he doesn't come to the second elite camp that takes place during the summer.

dennycrane

Assuming you are correct the question becomes

Why did MU lose interest in Blue the weekend of the elite camp?

Maybe Marquette is taking a wait and see on Vander?

detroitwarrior

It seems to me there is plenty of time for Blue. Presumably he will be playing some pick up ball with Jeronne and other MU players throughout the summer at the AL and I would also assume that he will be following Jeronne's progress this upcoming season and attending some Marquette games. If he expresses an interest in attending MU , we will pursue him more aggressively.

considering vander doesn't know where he is going and not going right now, I wouldn't worry about red foreskin's innuendo.

Interesting to see Blue leaning back toward Wisconsin after what went on last month. I'm sure the fanbase will forget all those meanie things they said about him. One question: to get back into good favor in such a quick time is there some incentive$$$$$ involved?

Blackhat

when you take a wait and see approach in recruiting you usually end up on the outside looking in.

I highly doubt it. No sense in starting rumors like this when we have no evidence to prove such a thing.

Well said Jim, well said.

Wait for what? If those other posters linked believe MU is no longer interested what would change that?

Did they pull his offer?

94Warrior

Right now the Badger fans are grasping at straws.  Here is what they know.

A.  One anonymous poster claims Blue is enrolled in summer school.
B.  Bo thought it was a good idea for Blue to attend summer school.
C.  UW-Madison has vastly superior academic standards for their student athletes than MU or most any other school, with the possible exception of a few Ivy League schools.
D.  Blue is still in contact with Howard Moore at UW.
E.  Blue didn't attend MU's Elite Camp.

A+B+C+D+E must = Blue is leaning to UW-Madison once again and Blue is no longer interested in MU.  Who knows?  Those Badger fans (with admittedly no inside knowlege) might be right.  But, some fairly large assumptions are being made if you ask me.

A.  For the sake of argument, let's assume he is in summer school.
B.  If so, does it really mean his in onboard with Bo's grand plan?  Or could it simply mean summer school is a good idea for Vander regardless of where he ends up?
C.  I'm not going to touch the academic standards issue, in my opinion it is a load of crap.  But, if you choose to believe it, go right ahead.
D.  From what I've heard Howard Moore is a friend of the Blue family.  Perhaps Blue wants to 'just be friends'.  Does this mean he is ready to re-commit a month after he let him, Bo and UW-Madison down easy to 'see other people'?  Doubtful.
E.  Could it be Blue didn't attend MU's Elite Camp because he had finals the following week?  See also: B.

I'll take Vander Blue at his word and assume he's going to take in the entire recruiting process.  To me this means he will probably attend one or more Midnight Madness practices, take his alloted number of official visits, and make the right decision for him and his family.  Much can, and will, change between now and November.  That's what makes this stuff fun.

Give 'em Hell, Buzz!

lets fact it; if the baajr fans knew anything,...., they wouldn't be baajr fans!

BrewCity83

I'm hearing from a third-hand source that right now his top 2 are MU and Louisville, but that he's not close to deciding anything.

I will be stunned if he doesn't end up at UW.

I, too, will be mildly surprised..., but, stunned?

94Warrior

I badly want to see Vander Blue at MU, but I would rather see him at UW-Madison than Looserville.

I can't stomach watching MU lose to the U of L, as a WI high school kid hits a buzzer-beater.  I've seen that movie starring Reece Gaines and Jerry Smith, I don't need to see it again.

So Silky, you started this thread by stating it was bogus that Blue was no longer interested in MU.  Now you say you'd be stunned if he didn't end up at UW.   ?-(

Don't bother explaining...I'm sure you're just another confused Badger fan.  ::)
