In light of our upcoming game, I would add Providence to the list.  Hate those bastards.

I am always up for showing my hatred to other sports teams, mine goes as follows, I'll just do top 10 and then honorable mention, because the list is long.

1.  UW Basketball
2.  Chicago Cubs
3.  Chicago Bears
4.  Boston Red Sox (just because their fans think they are "morally better" than the yankees, when they are the same damn thing, and I am sick of Big Papi, he doesn't play the field, he can't be MVP)
5.  New York Yankees
6.  New England Patriots (hate Tom Brady, hate how they always win)
7.  Louisville
8.  Kobe Bryant (fricken rapist)
9.  Minnesota Vikings (turn a plastic baggie upsdie down, theres their trophy case)
10. Dallas Cowboys

Honorable Mention:  St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati, Texas football, Philadelphia Eagles (Donovan McNabb has a mondo of a head), Dick Vitale (when announcing a Duke game), Jay Bilas, ESPN during Super Bowl week (honestly, I could care less about watching the highlights of Super Bowls before I was born), John Elway, Emmitt Smith (keep dancing you sell out), Eli Manning, Brian Urlacher (still the most overrated player in the NFL, give credit to your D-Line you bum), U2, Country Music, George W Bush, Reece Gaines, Big Ten Basketball in general.

Look for more to come.

My list pretty much starts and ends with the Yankees. I had this vision (call it a fantasy) years ago that the Yankees plane crashed in the Rockies and they had to eat each other to stay alive. When the rescuers found them, the only one alive was Don Zimmer and he was gnawing on Joe Torre's leg. I know, it's sick, but I am undergoing therapy.
Other than that, I despise UW for the left-wing liberal BS it stands for, and my hatred for the old Detroit Pistons was up there. I kept hoping Rodman would collide with Laimbeer in midair and they'd both have to carted off in gurneys.

Well, this thread's taken on a life of it's own.  Pretty funny stuff.

Let see, I hate...(in no particular order)
- Slow internet connections
- Slow drivers
- Signing 18 month contracts for my TV programming
- Colorado "natives" that think I have no right to be here (never got that attitude in Chicago)
- Seeing Marquette lose ANY basketball game
- Cheap American beer (but I'll drink it...)
...

Oddly, I don't really hate ND or Wisconsin as a whole.  Bo bothers me, and I think the rivalries are great.  But hard to hate too many college teams unless they're run by someone with no ethics.

It's still pretty much just ND for me.  Several have commented on the why--the rivalry from way back, the arrogance, Digger, etc.

Bears don't bother me nearly as much as the Vikings and that pit they call an athletic facility to play in (although have fond memories of being there to watch MU destroy Kentucky).

Oh, and Joe Theisman.  Can't stand that guy.
Ludum habemus.

marquette09

figured ill continue the trend......

1. Notre Dame in EVERYTHING
2. St. Louis Cardinals
3. Michigan
4. UW Wisconsin
5. Packers
6. U of Illinois
7. Miami Heat (Minus Dwade)
8. Houston Astros
9. Minnesota Vikings
10. Pitt  (making a strong charge)

Henry Sugar

Fun Thread, although slightly unhealthy.

1) UW@Madison
2) The Packers.  The Bears never beat the Packers once when I went to MU, and I attended Marquette for five years!
3) People who went to UW@someotherschool but still root for the Badgers
4) Non-ND graduates who are fans just because they are Irish, Catholic, from Chicagoland, or any combination of the three.
5) Autobots - Optimus Prime is a sissy
6) Illinois Basketball (I got all out of sorts during their FF run.  Plus I have a non-expiring $1000 bet that MU will win the National Championship before Illinois does and it got kinda close there...)
7) Any basketball coach that slicks his hair, and I'm talkin' to you, Billy Donovan!
8) Francisco Garcia, Reece Gaines, Alando Tucker, Brian Butch, and Sammy Mejia
9) Cade McNown and Dave Wannstadt - People may hate on the Bears now, but we have gone through some lean years up there and I didn't even mention  Curtis Enis or Rashaan Salaam.
10) Dusty F. Baker and Neifi! Perez

That's enough hate for me - we should do a thread on things we love next

Addendum to things I hate:

People who correct other peoples grammar
SAP and things involved in implimenting SAP
2003 Kansas basketball......you can't convince me that we wouldn't have beaten Cuse that year in the NC

4.  Boston Red Sox (just because their fans think they are "morally better" than the yankees, when they are the same damn thing, and I am sick of Big Papi, he doesn't play the field, he can't be MVP)

As a life-long die hard Red Sox fan, I can understand how everyone hates them now.  First off, we were hardly long-suffering fans, even with the 86 year drought, because we had a lot of excitement and fun right up until we blew it in a lot of years.  For me, 1972, 1974, 1975, 1978, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1995, 1998, 1999-2003 offered lots of fun and excitement despite the frustrating endings.  It's not like we were rooting for the Chicago teams or the Brewers or something.

I also agree that we have gone to the dark side with the Yankees.  There is no honor in winning by outspending, even if you're smart about it.  But, I'll never switch teams, though nothing short of MU winning an NCAA title will ever be as sweet as coming back from 0-3 against the Yanks and winning the WS in 2004.

PS - Big Papi is a perfectly adequate first baseman, no worse than half the guys out there.  Not his fault the Sox only put him out there 20 times/year.  If stone gloves like Juan Gonzalez and Jason Giambi can win MVPs, why not Ortiz?

Yankees and Red Sox are one and the same not just because of the spending but b/c ESPN oversells that rivalry every chance it gets.

By the way, add Curt Schilling to my list.  Biggest self-promoter out there.

Wow there Tex, how is it either teams fault that ESPN whores themselves to the East Coast Bias?  Heres the point and I'm probably biased being a Saux fan myself, but I don't think the Red Sox fans are nearly as arrogant as the Yankees fan.  Plus Yankees fans are similiar to ND fans....they just exist, one day someone just decides that cause the Yankees won all the time they are going to be a Yankees fan.  No one "chooses" to be a Red Sox fan.

So I should only hate ESPN b/c of the East Coast bias and hold the Yanks and Red Sox blameless?  No way, isn't there a parallel between the hype surrounding these teams and ND.  People hate ND b/c there just hyped up so much, both by the media and their fans.  Through the years, a lot of people chose to follow the Red Sox if for no other reason than to beat the Yanks.  Now that they've largely become the Yankees, I have no rooting interest when they play each other.  I just hope Schilling gets shelled along the way.

I also hate automatic paper towel dispensers in the men's room.  There was nothing wrong with ones where you pulled on the towel.  Now people look at me like it's my fault that the stupid thing takes 5 seconds to realize my hand's in front of the damned censor.  I'm doing it right, leave me alone.  AND LEAVE WELL ENOUGH ALONE.

You have a solid point, I think the Yanks-Saux is overdone as well.  I think there is a striking similarity between the Yankees and ND....just don't think the Red Sox are there just yet.  Give it another 10 years of not winning anything and the Red Sox wagon will empty out some.

First off, the person that started this post should be a moderator or something. Well done...I have to admit I wish more people embraced the Notre Dame rivalry, in particular current Marquette students. I think it sucks people from MU even consider cheering for ND in any form (yes, that includes football). We do not go to Notre Dame. I wish I never saw a Notre Dame sweatshirt on this campus. Its funny how people buy into the national acclaim of a school, even when in reality they have no idea why they trully like the school and/or teams (another ex. UNC or Duke). As for ND basketball, none of their fans care until there team becomes good..I love fair weather fans, ND is the perfect example. It is interesting to hear older alums talk about the rivalry and how much they hated Notre Dame. We go to Marquette and should be proud and learn to love this school, its history, and sports programs..irregardless of how good we are. I think it is great to see this university grow and attract more kids nationally, as it should because it is a wonderful school. I assure you the quality of the students/faculty/alums here are far superior to that of Notre Dame. I love Marquette.

Although they are stone gloved... they still played the field, until Ortiz plays the field for the whole season, he shouldn't be MVP, the DH rule is silly and unnecessary, and I am glad the Brewers are in the NL for that reason.  However, I am glad you can see the reasons why I hate the Red Sox and can understand why the Red Sox are the same as the Yankees, most Red Sox fans can't agree with that (maybe you just are one of the few intelligent Red Sox fans)...

Other Honorable Mention things I hate.... when ESPN SHOWS THE SAME GAME ON BOTH ESPN AND ESPN2, I don't know why they started that, but hell, I don't need to see every angle in a little 6 inch square on ESPN2 when the game is on ESPN, started I believe with the Red Sox/Yankees, but they did it with NCAA football, and will do it I am sure with Duke vs UNC, why ESPN, why.  I also hated all the huge Big Ten believers that said Michigan should have played OSU in the National Championship(pre bowl games), Michigan had their chance, they lost, get over it.  The bowls sure showed who were the better teams (USC/Florida)
