wants to address who is leaving or not showing up since we are one slot short?

Sir Lawrence

I'm putting my money on the Venezuelan.
Ludum habemus.

Ellenson Guerrero

It has been addressed and I think the leading consensus is McMorrow. I find it hard to believe Cubes would leave with just one year left of eligibility and a terrible shooting season to sell to other schools. Besides trading Mbao for Cubes would leave us with just Acker, Cad, DJO and Buycks as true guards.

Furthermore, if it is another transfer, my guess is that it would have been announced already like Hazel's.  I don't know what they would be waiting for however.

Markusquette

I agree with Wegrzyn.  Unfortunately, it would make the most sense that we are replacing McMorrow with another big in Mbao, because he is unable to play.  I'd really like to see both of them play, but I can't see us losing anyone else really.

Tugg Speedman

If McMorrow is unable to play, and Mbao is his replacement, why not just announce it?  What are they waiting for?  We have 13 kids for 12 spots, everyone knows something has to give.

Fullodds

Cubby COULD head straight to pro ball in venezula.  If he leaves I don't see a transer. (I don't think he is going anywhere--just a comment about his chance to play in Venezula).

bilsu

My guess is that Buzz will wait until all players show up(Mbakwe last year). Then either McMorrow or Fulce's will be reclassified to non playing status. Based on what was said about Fulce last year, his injury will never heal. We do not know what is wrong with McMorrow. His playing status may depend on how he recuperates.

If Mbao is a partial qualifier, would he still count toward the # of schollies?

mu_hilltopper

I think I read someone smarter than I who just said there are no partial qualifiers any more.  You either do, or you don't.

bilsu

The Big East does not allow partial qualifiers.

MR.HAYWARD

the big east does not allow what does not exist?  there is no such thing anymore you either qualify or you dont.  mbao will do another prep if eleigible or juco if he fails to qualify

Thanks for the clarifications.

Actually, we have 14 guys for 13 spots.

Liam McMorrow is not dead or dying. People need to back away from the cliff on this one.

It's just what people are assuming, and as of now, it makes the most sense as to why we signed a guy the same height as him.

It's simple math, we have one extra player for the spots available. Someone has to go.  If you say we should back off McMorrow, then who is going?

jficke13

I understand someone has to go, but I hesitate to speculate at this point. Everyone and their cousin could foresee Hazel going when Frozena got in for mop up time and Hazel stayed on the pine. The rest of the players contributed in some fashion to the team except for Liam. Everyone here takes Liam's phantom health issue to be incredibly serious when I am confident it's not. To me that puts me in a spot where I don't have the information necessary to predict who is going to leave.

Liam was a redshirt, how could he contribute in the first place?

Here is my fear, since everyone knows that someone has to get voted off the island, it could create a bad environment among the bottom half of the team (unless they all know who is going and are keeping quiet).  It could be counterproductive in the long-run.  So, make the announcement, let every know that are secure and give those that are moving on maximum time to make their future plans.

Yeah, and while we're at it, why doesn't anybody ever talk about Crean leaving and how Buzz was hired?  Oh, and isn't it about time we stopped avoiding the Warriors vs. Golden Eagles subject?  We need to address these things.

It seems to me that the "not enough scholarships" issue has been covered pretty exhaustively.  Liam seems to be the odds-on favorite given his ill-defined medical condition.  I think Coach Benford's comment in his interview with Roziak about Mbao was very telling:  "Our team is changing a little bit from the three-guard offense, and [Mbao] and Chris Otule will add size that we didn't have and can match up with other bigger people in this league."  When you're talking about adding size and you don't mention one of your seven footers, that seems a bit odd.

How do you know this?  Just guessing?

MU is very limited at what they can say regarding his issue due to privacy concerns.  The fact that the issue *hasn't* been refuted, despite comments by Rosiak in the MJS, means that there is likely something to it.  Whether or not this issue will prevent him from playing or not is another matter.

My guess (and this is just a guess) is that the players know what is going on and who is on/off the roster for next season.

I do not believe this is the case.

If 12 or 13 players know, then assume that the managers, graduate assistants and trainers, their close friends and roomates also know.  That is the way the world works.  This means that potentially dozens would know.

If so, it would take exactly 10 minutes for someone to get it from one of them and post here or Rosiak to find out and post in the paper.

It is impossible to keep something like this a secret with that many people knowing.  Since no one is saying anything, it must be that no one knows for sure.
