I heard a rumor that Dominic may play on Sunday.  Any truth to it?

Why even start this bs?  There is no rumor except you starting one.

Gwaki

I heard a rumor that he took some magical pills that somehow made it possible for him to recover in 1 month instead of three.

I heard if one of our guys got hurt while putting up a shot, that Buzz was going to put DJ in to shoot the free throws.

I heard Buzz is going to coach the game wearing a sari and a Minnie Pearl hat.

Yep, Crean was in Boise working with DJ on his karate chops and hyperbaric chamber moves. After he got done with the tackling dummy drills, he did about 30 minutes on the electric beach. TC then took him to his barber and showed him the proper technique when tying a tie. After a short tutorial in "How To Make Friends and Influence People," James was pronounced ready to start vs. Missouri. He owes all his success to one, Tom Crean.

I will put a medical opinion in this, if really needed.  He's still "partial weight-bearing" in the boot, meaning he hasn't put any full weight on his foot at all.  From the boot, he has to transition to a shoe, to walking normal, to running, to running/cutting, to running/cutting jumping.  One month might happen if he feels good through all of those steps (not likely), two months is more realistic.

ZiggysFryBoy

actually, DJ called DWade, and got Converse to make a special shoe with a cut out in the sole to accommodate the tape on DJ's foot and he will be playing.

Just give him about 10 shots of Jameson and he shouldn't be feeling anything in the foot.

I really have nothing worthwhile to add to this thread (I know, I know ... how's that any different from most threads), but I didn't want to miss out on Andy's pledge of a free beer should the original poster return.

I'll add 2 cents into this.

I broke my ankle the first weekend of January slipping on ice, and cracked the lateral malleous bone (in layman's terms, the one that connects to the fibula).  Although that particular ankle bone only bears about 10% of the total body weight, and I could still partially walk, I was in the boot (the exact same one DJ is wearing) consistently for the better part of 10 weeks.  Hell, I am still getting flexibility and strength back in my ankle and overall foot.  I can barely run as it is currently.  I know DJ's an athlete, but to get the necessary strength and flexibility back in your foot after being in a boot for 3 weeks with a foot/ankle break is damn near impossible for ANYONE.

If he had done this 3 weeks earlier (say beginning of February), I would say it's a possibility.  Either way, I'm not buying this whatsoever.

But I will gladly take that beer if he were to play.

I'm still not convinced he will be any better, than about 75%, but whatever.  I will buy him a six pack.

Marquette G James cleared to play

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/ncaatourney09/news/story?id=4005219

Marquette senior guard Dominic James, who suffered a broken foot Feb. 25 in what was thought to be his last game of the season, has been cleared to play for the sixth-seeded Golden Eagles' second-round game against the No. 3 seed Missouri Tigers in Boise, Idaho.

"I don't know how much he'll be able to contribute," Marquette coach Buzz Williams said. "The thing that I'm excited about is we're going to give him an opportunity to close out his career in the best way he possibly could.

"And I think the recovery has been due in large part to his work, but also because of the wisdom of Ernest [Eugene] and Dr. [Darrin] Maccoux," Williams said of the team's athletic trainer and physician.

James, who averaged 11.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.2 steals this season, was hurt in a 93-82 loss to Connecticut as the Golden Eagles (25-9) lost five of their last six games to close out the regular season. They advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament with a 58-57 victory over No. 11 seed Utah State.

"He worked out the day we got here, he worked out Friday morning before our game, worked out Friday night, practiced with us today," Williams said. "So medically he's been cleared, but how much he'll be able to contribute, I don't know."

James underwent surgery to the foot two days after the injury and began rehabilitation immediately.

"We've talked to some experts in the field, and these cases are known, have happened in elite athletes -- college and the pros," said Eugene, Marquette's trainer. "He's been very instrumental in all this, obviously. He's been so dedicated being where he's supposed to be every day, doing what he needs to do, and he's surpassed every goal."
