I didn't watch the game (had a game of my own... my girls won)... would love to see video of this, do we have it?

No T!?!?  Between the fan and the Providence player screaming f bombs at the ref?

I'll have video up.

MUEng92

CBS Sports says it was Xavier's brother.

I just got home and didn't see any of the game so I had to read about it.  What exactly happened?

ecompt

Makes the DD staff and the Xavier brothers look incredibly foolish.

TallTitan34

How did no one on the Providence bench try to stop him?

They just moved aside for him to get through.

MUViking

You have to be effing kidding me, bilsu?!?!?   ?-(  Buzz came out to protect his players after an unauthorized person came onto the court.  That should have been a T on Providence and nothing on MU.  I still can't believe that happened.  Ridiculous.

Thye could have called a technical on Buzz for coming on the court also. Maybe the refs did the best thing by not calling anything.

While Buzz could have technically been assessed with a technical foul for going that far out onto the court, it would have been a tech well deserved.  As Buzz said after the game, his #1 priority was and is to keep his players safe.  If it means getting a tech to get his awestruck players away from a crazy fan that could possibly be out to harm our players, so be it.

Take it from a guy who is from the Detroit area, no one wants a Pistons-Pacers remake.  That event was an embarrassment for both sides.

Agreed on all accounts already stated; unintentional and gross over-reaction by both Xaviers.

It was Fulce's left hand that scratched him and you'll notice Fulce picking at his fingers at the 2:26 mark of this clip, as if to clean out any gunk.

Marquette Mama

Local Detroit TV news just featured the incident on its morning broadcast.  We're famous?!

One other question .. Fulce was playing decently, Buzz yanked him with his 4 PFs, but he never got back in.

One wonders if Buzz decided NOT to put him back in for the final 15 because of security concerns.

4everwarriors

In this mornings Urinal-Sentinel Buzz is quoted as telling the refs he'd pull his team off the court and the hell with the game. This is dangerous.

Why didn't he get arrested and get kick out of the place.     If I do that at the BC I would get arrested and kick out!!

mu_hilltopper

He DID get booted out and given a ticket (arrested?) for disorderly conduct.

Am I the only one who thought that Fulce played poorly?  He was awful on defense.  His rotations were bad, and he was beat off the bounce a number of times.  He scored a few buckets and brought some energy, but he was a liability on defense.  Is it a coincidence that MU made its run once he was off the court?  Possibly, but it seems that PC could not match up with MU once it went really small. In a game where everyone else forgot how to defend, I don't see how you can keep Fulce on the court as it was making it way too easy for PC to score.

As for the clown on the court, PC should be embarrassed by what happened.

ATWizJr

Although security was inexcusably slow in getting to the fan, he was taken to Providence police headquarters and was arrested for disorderly conduct.  People on the PC blog are embarrassed and are saying so.

I thought Fulce deserves higher marks than many are giving him.  Remember, McDermott was killing us inside (17 rebs) and neither Hazel or Burke could contain him.  Fulce's "D" has a way to go, was playing off too far and was late in getting out on swithces, but he provided some scoring, made PC guard him and got some rebs.  Not bad for a guy who missed as much time as he did.

As for any other negatives, to come back from 13 down on the road in the BEast....well, you gotta' just enjoy the ride people!  Buzz was handed the keys to a Ferrari, and he's driving it beautifully, regardless of who built it!

Actually, It looked to me like Jeff Xavier was upset and yelling at his family for what his brother did, not yelling a Fulce. I could be wrong of course.

chcsportsfan

Did you guys see in the replay, it looks like Xavier's brother called a timeout as he was walking on the court...absolutely hilarious...

4everwarriors

I still say he was liquored up or something.

After a night of thinking about it,

Providence was up at that point, maybe he thought it was the appropriate time to storm the court.  And he was making the time out gesture to ask the refs if this was a bad time!

Coach Norman Dale

I also thought they should have called T, but in watching the replay numerous times I noticed he was clearly signalling for a timeout after he got over the Providence bench.  So maybe the refs thought they could not call a T without honoring his request for a timeout.  ;D

I'll bet once he was released he was off to the corner store for some 40's and blunts.

Who'd ever think a guy with a neck tattoo would rush the court?

I'm guessing he was told to play the man and not the ball...he followed his assignment all over the court.  He also contributed to one of the oddest moments in MU history.
