Brother Goose:

Four MU here (the two "heretics" went to St. Thomas College and the College of St. Scholastica). Three MU spouses plus Dad made eight of us.

This honestly sounds like my mom's family. 5/7 went to Marquette. The exceptions were SLU and Northwestern. Evidently back in the day, if you had multiples at MU, you got $100 off tuition, which was a big deal to my grandfather.

Dad had several great stories about going to Marquette in the 1950s. One was where his best friend from Superior came down to visit. They partied the way folks party in Superior (early and often and way early into the morning) and showed up at Gesu for Mass mid-morning. About a third of the way through the homily, Dad's friend fell asleep and snored so loudly that he shook Gesu. The presiding priest saying Mass looked down from the pulpit and asked, "are we disturbing him?"

I've heard that story a few times.  Hooks was a gem. Superior, through and through.

I had a brother in med school and another one was a senior. My tuition was discounted my freshman year. I remember it being something like $650 per semester + $900 for the year at Schroeder, room and meals. I think tuition going up to about $850 per semester after they graduated.

Some statistics about the Scoopers who answered this poll:

* The weighted average age, using the "5" value as a midpoint and evaluating all of the answers to this poll is 48.9 years (we're old).
* If the answers in this poll are to be believed, roughly 82 percent of Scoopers entered Marquette after coach McGuire left Marquette. That too, makes sense. Ya'll missed out on some really great Marquette basketball.
* 55.2 percent of the poll answers entered Marquette since Bob Dukiet was terminated. Boy have ya'll been on a roller coaster.

Well; class of 87 (I'm 57) for me.  I miss dollar imports at the Ardmore but happy the place has a bar there.  Every place I lived in is now gone, from McCormick Hall to the Trebor apartments to the house next to The Rugby House on 19th St.  I was involved in ASMU on the programming board and there when sadly The Block Party had to be axed due to no liability insurance  Still had a lot of fun, and now have a daughter there (my youngest) and she loves Marquette.  Have plans to go to the Depaul game with her Saturday

I was the guy who handed out bags of marshmallows at the Varsity theater before Ghostbusters with spectacular results.

For the 19 year olds, we assumed 18 was the midpoint age. Did the same on the 90+ crowd, which I think was falsely reported data. The 90+ crowd was assumed to be 91.

The data would not be materially skewed due to these brackets.

I remember Theos well.  Hung out there a ton when I lived at the Y.  John Garakas was the owner.

I also fondly remember Theo's.  It was one of the easiest places to get into with my horrible freshman year fake ID.  I recall a place called After 10 over there as well.  It was near the Badger Bus depot.  Great memories.

Class of '86 here.  One semester in Schroeder, three in Tower, room 1610 if I recall, and four in the Ardmore, second floor.  Loved the Ardmore.  What was really cool is we could get to the bar without having to go outside.  LOL.  It's the little things.  And yes, they did have an around the world deal.  Oh and after bar chimi's at Angelos?  Deep fried and served with a sour cream cup.  I think they were good.  LOL  Loved the NC game.  My roommate and I dressed up in full face paint for that one.  So frigging close to winning that game.  Lot's of fun.  Loved the old block parties.  It was a shame those went away, but I get it.  Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows!  They rocked.  So awesome.

I had a roommate and good friend who tended bar at the Ardmore while going to MU back in the 70's.  To this day my bride of 41 years swears that we never went on a date - just me at the bar where we could drink for free.
