Tbh, thought the student section had a better showing than the vests tonight

True. The students came out and participated. Who wouldn't; they got free rally towels!

Love the noggins of the players they had, too.

Have some patience, FFS.

I'm curious about the student seats that are covered up.  How do they know what the student turnout is going to be?  Would they have to uncover some seats if more students showed up?  Part of it seemed to be to force some students to sit on the west side, as the east side filled up faster as it is closer to the entrance\exit.  I assume that those seats are "sold" and will be uncovered for the "marquee" games.

student section was full...overall i was impressed with the turnout.  i'm assuming for bigger games they won't block the seats out in the student section with the "we are marquette" covers?

Security guard said they were handing out the cups after the game so there wouldn't be cups bring thrown all over the stadium.

Chick and I will be there accounting for 100% of the 'important' people.   ;D

In all seriousness, why the heck not for any season ticket or mini plan holder?

I had a meeting in Marshfield that ended at 520 and I made it with minutes to spare.

Sorry Brother Glow but 100 percent of the important people attended when both halves of the Scoop Father Ryan alumni walked in the building!

Numbers from past trends. Yes, they would just uncover those seats. Yes, the student section is sold out.
If we are all thinking alike, we're not thinking at all. It's OK to disagree. Just don't be disagreeable.

When I heard after the game, I was hoping for a nice pint glass like last year. Instead, it was maybe an 8-10 Oz plastic cup. Not much of a memento for those that missed it.

When not full, I think the covers are a nice touch and far better than empty seats.

Agreed, I like the magnet tho.

Came across this blurb on other opening night attendance figures. Loyola doesn't sell out FF banner raising but higher than last year's avg of 2405 (lowest in the MVC)

The college basketball season officially tipped off last night, and a crowd of 15,231 turned out to FedExForum to see Memphis take on Tennessee Tech in coach Penny Hardaway's debut. The crowd was the "largest for a Tiger home game since the regular season finale" in '15-16. The NBA arena "sounded like a cramped Memphis area high school gym" (Memphis COMMERCIAL APPEAL, 11/7).

Meanwhile, UCLA drew a "small crowd of 5,931" to Pauley Pavilion for its season-opening win over Purdue-Ft. Wayne, which marked the beginning of UCLA's 100th year of basketball (L.A. TIMES, 11/7).

Loyola-Chicago last night raised its Final Four banner against Missouri-K.C., though the game "wasn't a sellout," as a crowd of 3,795 filled the 5,000-seat Gentile Arena (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 11/7).

BrewCity83

The Loyola game wasn't a sellout, but they turned away hundreds of students.  The free student seats were all filled, and the students who were turned away were offered entry only if they would purchase tickets.  Their tuition is supposed to include free entry to all home sporting events, but because of all of the sudden interest in the hoops team, they seem to have under-allocated the size of the student sections.  A better solution would be to let the students in for free after they hit a certain pointy in time when they were done selling tickets.
The shaka sign, sometimes known as "hang loose", is a gesture of friendly intent often associated with Hawaii and surf culture.

Galway Eagle

That is ridiculous about Loyola. Either way after losing to furman they're going to lose interest real quick.
Retire Terry Rand's jersey!
