I thin you are spot on but fighting a losing battle on here. This board is dominated by 3-5 posters and their message is not to be challenged.

Whether discussing basketball, politics or anything in between, you can cut the incivility on the board with a knife. Perspectives that diverge from Wojo adoration or left wing political orthodoxy are vilified, mocked and shouted down. Too bad - used to be a lot of good discussions here.

This is just wrong. The reason the impact of a win and loss are negligible is because of the SOS difference.

You readily admit the RPI is "about the same" if we had to choose between a Cal win versus a Wichita State loss.

RPI already incorporates SOS.

Therefore, if a Wichita State loss gets us +10 spots because of a stronger SOS, for us to have about the same RPI means the extra loss has an impact of -10 spots.

This was quite a thread, featuring an amazing argument about whom we should have been rooting for. I'd call it an all-timer ... but it wasn't.

I do wish that guru would stop accusing everybody who doesn't go as nuts about every loss as he does of not caring about the Warriors. It's not true, and it's a charge he throws out constantly. Otherwise, I'll let all the fun comments by everybody participating stand.

I'm  pretty sure there was a Crean comparison when he was brought up as a coaching candidate. It sounded like he's a bit of an odd duck and the reason he hasn't gotten a bigger job is more than just him loving WSU.

Cal down 26 at half to VCU. They would have been an absolute anchor if we won and a massive perception obstacle to overcome if we'd lost.

Yeah, if only more Scoopers had rooted for WSU to lose, Cal would have hung on to win. Because that's how it works.

Maybe if more Scoopers would root for Marquette, we'd be No. 1 again. Instead, we apparently keep rooting for Duke, UNC, Kentucky and Kansas.
