Who are we cheering for. I know it most likely won't matter because wichita should blow them out. But, cal has the early lead. So who do we want?

Shark

Wichita right? Even if you lose it's a "good loss" due to RPI or whatever. Also, if you win it's REALLY good. They're basically a lock to count as a win vs the field when being on the bubble.

goldeneagle91114

but what if Cal beats Wichita St? wouldn't that greatly help their RPI, which in turn would help us?

BM1090

Cheer for Wichita in a close, physical game.

Cal up 10 early.

this is what I was thinking

cheebs09

If we play Cal, is it the Cuonzo Bowl? Knock out two of he other candidates. Then beat the heck out of the Irish for good measure.

GGGG

I'm rooting for whomever we can beat.  Now that we beat VCU, the schedule difference isn't really worth the brain cells.

MUBigDance

The assumption is over the season, Wichita will be like they usually are...decent RPI and tourney team....and Cal will be a weaker PAC team without those creds.

But who knows for sure.

What I know is I'm rooting for MSM, Purdue and VCU against everybody but the BE and perhaps other MU opponents.

As others have stated, a close, taxing game would be nice....and maybe some afternoon sunburn for the winners   ;D

Milkshakes

I am rooting for Cal. WS, although loosing now, looks super athletic and they are long and tall and I think would give our guards lots of headaches.

BM1090

Cal is up 47-38 at half. Hope WSU can battle back.

brewcity77

Rooting for Wichita, because we aren't playing in the NCAA Tournament, we're building our resume for the NCAA Tournament. WSU will win 27+ games this year. That's huge for RPI, SOS, and our tourney hopes.

Also, it's a chance at a marquee win on a neutral floor.

Exactly. There's no reason to be rooting for Cal. There's a chance they'll be worse than DePaul this year.

agreed, but if Cal wins, we have a great shot at winning this, and getting to play a different Great team in the Championship (Notre Dame)

Give me two good games over any bad ones. Winning today was mission accomplished. Anything more is gravy, so give me the best gravy.

+1
I rather play no one than play Cal this season. Nothing to gain and everything to lose from a game like that.

Then again, if Cal wins, MU not only has a better chance at a win tomorrow, but also a likely shot at a Notre Dame team that almost certainly will have a higher RPI at season's end than the Shockers. (For perspective ... a 25-win ND team last year had an RPI of 23; a 29-win WSU had an RPI of 31).
I'd rather take my chances against Cal in hopes of setting up a title game against Notre Dame. Or, in other words, I'd rather play Cal and ND for a title than Wichita State and Michigan/LSU for 3rd place.
And, yeah, I'm probably selling short MU's chances against WSU given how they looked in the first half.

GGGG

I mean I get this.  But getting to the championship game would be fun.  And if Cal is the best match-up, then I'm OK with that.

Mr. Sand-Knit

Cal is huge n has marcus lee

This game is over. We are playing cal.

jsglow

Holy crap. What a butt kicking so far.

Boozemon Barro

How sure are we that Wichita is any good?

BM1090

jsglow

You know what boys?  Basketball isn't played on kenpom.  Wichita St may come back to win this but if you're not impressed by Cal's work today........

MomofMUltiples

They must be really off today.  Don't look like the #6 team in the country.
I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)
