Can someone fill me in on the point system of how season ticket works? Also, I hear a lot of complaining from alumni who have been season ticket holders for years saying they got screwed on NCAA tickets. Basically, this was the first year that tickets were based solely on contributions, not years. Is that true? If so, that's kind of weak of the University to put quick money ahead of long-term loyalty.

On the other hand one may argue that someone who gives a lot of money to the University to support its mission and gets nothing in return is more loyal to MU and should be rewarded than an old guy who only has only bought season tix.

i believe points are given for each year one has been a season ticket holder plus so many for each degree you've earned plus each $250-500 increments donated depending on the fund donated to.  more heavily weighted to blue & gold fund as that is used directly to offset athletic department expenses.  so i beleive they've covered all the bases in an equitable manner.  the system they've come up with is cool except(bias on my part) when i didn't get credit for the years i only bought the blue and gold b-bal pack, eliminating the fluff games which i found myself going to 3 or 4 anyway.

When I make my annual donation to MU I always instruct them to allot the money where they need it most. But if If I understand the point system correctly I'm better off having my contribution go to the Blue & Gold fund. I'm more likely to get better seating that way. Is the correct?

Correct.  I had done it your way for many years.  A few years back, I realized this was a mistake - for points purposes.  So now, I give solely to the Blue & Gold Fund to maximize my points.

I do not know anything official, but I am a recent grad (2009) and I have never donated but I have been a season ticket holder for the past two years.  I got tickets through Marquette for Cleveland and New York.  I would ask the alumni who did not get tickets if they signed up to get tickets for the Cleveland and New York locations and also if they signed up before the deadline.  If they didn't, they might have been put on a waiting list.

I requested tickets for the S16 in Newark (put my order in at 8am on the first day of ordering) and received 4 tickets in the 100 level at the Pru.  I am not a season ticket holder, but I have consistently donated for the last 7-8 years (between $75-$200 with company match on top of that) including portions of that going to the Blue & Gold fund.  I was really happy with how it worked out, considering I'm not a season ticket holder.

I don't think this is entirely true.  The allocation - as I understood - was based on Priority Points and it's been this way since they introduced the PP system.  Contributions are one way to earn PP's, consecutive years another.  Conceivably, you could have been a season ticket holder for 30 years and have less points than a recent grad because you haven't donated as much; conversely, you could have given MU $25,000 last year and still have less points than the guy who has had season tickets since the name change (to Warriors).

My guess is the people who missed out on MU's allocation of Cleveland tickets were those who signed up after the bracket was announced.  I'm also assuming that those who committed weeks ago to buying tickets if the games were in Cleveland all received tickets.

Did anyone who signed up for Cleveland in the "pre-sale" not get tickets?

Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Thanks guys. The alum must have screwed up pre-registration or was mistaken. He made it sound like it was a big policy shift and disregarded the points system.
