Also remember the threads about whether Haanif would leave early?

Similar ridiculous talk about Mayo.

Although, as Lenny or others would note, he also left early.

But just because Scoopers sometimes go a little (or a lot) overboard, it doesn't mean the NBA will ignore a 6-11 kid who can shoot.

Remember Henry Ellenson. He was one-and-done and the sad thing is, he's done!

For what it's worth he also made $6M.

And it's not really that sad.

Not at all.  Fulfilled his dream of playing in the NBA and made $6M.  I'd be happy with that.

With many earning years ahead of him.

What kind of job is he going to get with one year of college and no real job experience?

Not a rhetorical question.
Have some patience, FFS.

and he just signed a two years deal with Toronto for $3.7 million with $50K guaranteed. Chump change for the average 23 year MU grad, I know, especially after having made over $6 million.

Worst case scenario for him is he goes overseas and make six figures (tax-free) for another 10-15 years.

PE teacher? But realistically Personal trainer, basketball coach, basketball player, basketball trainer. Any entry level tela-sales job, work at enterprise, become a franchise owner of something. There's options.

He could open a business after he is done with B-Ball professionally.  Or he could take his earnings and finish his degree.  Or any of the other ones mentioned.

Seriously, this isn't the case of someone leaving school with no options.  He has plenty and probably more than many of us at his age.

He could coach forever, especially if goes back and gets his degree.

A job where he went back to college and got a degree in something.  He isn't locked out of them.

Anything else he sets his mind to.  Lots of people in this country don't attend college and do very well.

No great tragedy has occurred.

I'm no tax attorney but somewhere an exception was carved out, maybe in how payments are classified.

"Other advantages are your team pays for your round-trip plane ticket to the country and back to your home at the end of the season; your salary is tax-free; the team pays for your housing; and you get to meet people from all over the world, learn their cultures and establish lifelong friendships."
