Slow Horses is great.  My favorite show on TV.
The screw-ups just can't help from screwing up.

Quote from: Jockey on October 23, 2025, 09:59:15 AMJust started the latest season of Diplomat. It has been one of my faves since it began.

Have you checked out Task on HBO? Outstanding. I think a lot of awards are gonna come its way next year.

We're between HBO subscriptions now, so haven't yet. I'll put it on my list for when we re-up to do some binge watching. Peacemaker is a guilty pleasure, so I'm looking forward to watching Season 2.

My only complaint about Slow Horses is that the season is only 6 episodes. Come on, man!

The facial close ups when Keri Russell's character didn't get on the plane were a freaking masterclass.

Totally agree, but I give them a bit of grace because they've put out t24 episodes in basically 3 years.  Compared to other hit shows that take 18-24 months if you're lucky to get another season.  And they are already greenlit for seasons 6 and 7 (which makes sense considering there are another 3, maybe 4?, books in the series aThere fter London Rules, which is the book this season is adapted from.

There are constant improvements every season, but without having read the source material, one of the best changes in terms of dynamics has been Emma as the new head of the Dogs.  Her back and forth with Lamb and the team is fantastic.  Her interrogation/manipulating of Roddy this season was hilarious.  Great character, great casting, great performance, she's elevated an already great cast even further.

Mick Herron is in his early 60s.  Lets hope he's got another half dozen books in him and he doesn't become lame lazy GRR Martin

Agree with all of that, Wags. Good point on them trotting out seasons close together - it's appreciated!

My favorite this season has been the PM, Whelan. He is such a loser and a weasel, and the actor (James Callis) plays him perfectly.

She is a national treasure.

Stumbled on a Netflix show called "You Can't Ask That." I'm four episodes into the first season, I quite like it.

Also watching Apple TV "Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars." It's quite good, many around Scoop might enjoy the episodes centered in Chicago.

Incredible season finale to Slow Horses.  Easily my favorite season so far, and that's a high bar to cross.  Again, Ive not read the books so I don't know how much creative liberty is taken with the characters, but the fleshing out of the side characters this season was unreal.  Roddy's best season by far, he was hilarious both intentionally and unintentionally.  I mentioned how much Flyte adds to the show given her dynamic and pseudo-cooperation/begrudging respect for Lamb compared to Duffy. Her manipulating and toying with Roddy was one of my favorite parts of the season.  And Coe was an absolute standout.  Him moving to a main character with multiple plot lines was incredible.  Legit LOL'd at him stabbing the final Libyan in the neck.  And of course, beyond Oldman just putting in some of his best work of a storied career, Jack Lowden has been incredible.

Will Smith is a doing a fantastic job as the showrunner and continues to grow each season.  I had no idea he was a writer/co producer on Veep...which now makes total sense with some of the show's dark and subtle humor.  This was also the funniest season yet.  Its so gritty and intense and then just laugh out loud funny at the most random moments.  Absolutely incredible stuff.

Agree Wags (and all) season 6 was a good one.  just finished up the last episode last night.  I can hardly wait for season 7.

My wife and I will watch later this evening.
Jack Lowden has become a favorite of mine and it appears he has made the list although a longshot on the next James Bond actor.

Loved Slow Horses start to finish. Already looking forward to next season.

We just watched The Girlfriend on Amazon. Much better than I thought it would be. Lots of twists and evil fun.
