These warnings have been around for about 10 years and are actually very serious.If there is one issue where gov't funding is needed - even necessary - it is this. But we know that won't happen.
Antibiotics are not a money maker. And, to be fair, they are becoming increasingly harder to research. That being said, some providers hand them out like candy when they aren't necessary. Further, patients (especially parents) will demand them, not understanding the medicine. Of course, those same patients fill out surveys that determine pay to providers/hospitals, so...
They are moneymakers if it is the only one that kills a certain kind of bug. There are oral antibiotics that cost thousands of dollars for a 10-day course of treatment.

Having learned from all the dystopian shows, books and movies, I am mentally prepared for whatever comes. Don't have a bomb shelter or 30 years food stockpiled though. Maybe I'll convert to the Latter Day Saints at that time and they take me in.
