Seems I love this team too much and film is all were gonna get for the rest of this season

I quoted you but meant it to everyone who is willing to watch that again.  I’m not sure the dollar amount needed for me to watch it again.

Great.  Another thread about random shooting.

Plenty of bricks in there, but more in-and-out than I recalled. I truly believe if Jop and Kam each saw one fall early in the game, MU may have won big.
That first great open look from Kam to open the second half that went in and out spelled doom.

The Gold one was the one that hurt. Huge swing there. And almost all the way down

The NCAA has no standard for inflation of the ball or the tightness of the rim.

There’s definitely college hoops people on Twitter also questioning the Dallas rims.

Teams in Dallas have shot 26.6% from 3 and 57.8% from the line.

I noticed it during the game. I think the ball had too much air and the rims were really tight. It’s the same for both teams, so it’s fair at the end of the day, but I do think both factors contributed to the poor shooting yesterday in Dallas. I shoot regularly at my local athletic club and track all of my percentages for threes and free throws. When a friend recently commented my ball was a little flat, I put more air in it and my percentages have dropped almost 10% since. No excuse, but it makes a big difference I think.

There were some weird bounces of rims you normally don't see in games, and it occurred multiple times in this game.  It was weird.

Oso’s near rebound that resulted in an NC State put back comes to mind. Or how about the ball that rocketed off the rim so hard Oso couldn’t get his hands up and had his face split open.

Sure, but teams not named Marquette shot 35.4% from 3.
Both Houston and NC State shot 34.8% on the season. Duke shot 38%.

In the sweet 16 this year, there have already been 3 upsets.

Arizona: Shot 5-28 from 3, with Caleb Love going 0-9, and Pelle Larson going 1-6
UNC: Kept it close (because as a team shot fine), but RJ Davis went 0-9 from 3
MU: 4-31 from 3.

One thing is certain in the NCAA tournament. If you go cold from 3, and/or your shotmakers can't hit open looks, you will be going home.

Like Arizona, and like RJ Davis, we couldn't hit open 3's when we needed to. Sad way to go out, but proud of this team.

I think deep down, we all 'knew' how the season would end - on a bad 3 night. We have seen it many times this year and we weren't gonna survive against a decent team.

Conversely, I heard one analyst whom I respect say that MU had little chance to beat NCState. His reasoning? You can get practice level open 3s against our defense at will. The constant switching means too many guys out of position to defend against 3s.

Aside from winning the NC, anyone that watched the games knew a bad shooting night would likely end the season. All of the fans that belly ached in January during the slump had a 97% chance of being right. How badly they shot was a surprise, not how they lost.

The problem was all our shooters were cold in the same game.   And Oso on offense was a non-factor.  That’s a tough deal

Goose,
We were good enough to win on a bad shooting night - 25% from 3 and we almost certainly win the game. But we saw this a couple times this year where they were horrible rather than just bad. I should have used that word in my post.

Jockey,
Yes, shoot 25% and they likely win. That was a fxxking disaster last night.

MU was not a great shooting trey team but has been consistent since January (versus first part of season).  Killer game s right.  Unfortunate but credit must go to NCST too.

I agree. Success is not linear. The culture has been set and will be carried on next year by KAM, Stevie, Zaide, Ben, etc.

I expect us to be a solid offensive team next year, and if the inside defense develops, we will be very good.
