In the sweet 16 this year, there have already been 3 upsets.

Arizona: Shot 5-28 from 3, with Caleb Love going 0-9, and Pelle Larson going 1-6
UNC: Kept it close (because as a team shot fine), but RJ Davis went 0-9 from 3
MU: 4-31 from 3.

One thing is certain in the NCAA tournament. If you go cold from 3, and/or your shotmakers can't hit open looks, you will be going home.

Like Arizona, and like RJ Davis, we couldn't hit open 3's when we needed to. Sad way to go out, but proud of this team.

Vander Blue Man Group

Sums it up. Even just a mediocre shooting night and it's a different story.

That's all great.  But if Marquette taught us anything this year, it's that they *should* have been a close 2s team.  Then, and only then, the 3s may fall

You are not wrong, but NC State did a good job of taking away our driving lanes and gave us a lot of open 3's. They gambled on us having a historically poor shooting night.

It worked. We should have probably tried to find more opportunities attacking the rim, but they really did do a good job of taking that away.

Big Papi

Lack of a big man who could score around the basket when the 3s were not going down was what hurt this team.  We only had Oso and when he hit a rough patch we had no one else.

WellsstreetWanderer

They could pack the lane because no worries about our 3 pt shooting

I used to have a coworker that repeatedly said "I don't disagree", just because it pained him so much to just agree.

All of you are correct but we were out of sorts and mentally lost our poise.   Not a lot of flow in our offense, and a lot less flow once we got frustrated by missing open looks.  The stretch in the 2H where we basically couldn't score, despite having about 10 chances to get the game within range, is what really frustrated me.

Dish

It's the same for all four teams tonight, but man those rims are super tight in Dallas. Of the four regionals, it's not even close on both FG and 3 point FG percentages, Dallas is the worst.

I thought NC State did a good job of clogging up the lane. We couldn't get anything going on the inside. We make 3s when we penetrate and dish out. NC State was able to disrupt that - when we dished out a lot of times the passes weren't as crisp or as well positioned as they have been in the past. Have to give NC State a little bit of credit. The Wolfpack are on a roll. I don't think they'll make the FF but I wouldn't be too surprised if they make it.

Feel like I'm disagreeing with you lately dish.  But maybe just the defensive quad? Rims and balls are standard enough, unless there is foul play??

Judge,

They did do a good job of packing the paint.  But we didn't exercise any patience and played with hesitation once we started to go brick city. There were very few Tyko /Oso pick and rolls or using Oso at all vs Butns to initiate offense.

The NCAA has no standard for inflation of the ball or the tightness of the rim.

There's definitely college hoops people on Twitter also questioning the Dallas rims.

Hah.  There are standards.  Though I agree tolerances are probably too loose.

Nonetheless.... It's a non story

Compilation of the 27 3s...

Watching how many of those are wide wide open is crazy. Many of those shots are ones where they would normally shoot 60+%, uncontested catch and shoot.

To miss that many of them is just insane.

Plenty of bricks in there, but more in-and-out than I recalled. I truly believe if Jop and Kam each saw one fall early in the game, MU may have won big.

Sort of heartbreaking to watch. Got the shots we wanted.

Why would anyone watch that?  What is the point? It was plenty brutal the first time
