Diener at local campus bar

Last night Mr Diener made an appearance in a campus barat about 1:40. Included in his "entourage" were former MU greats Marcus Jackson, Todd Townsend, Chris Grimm, Mike Kinsella and a couple of current players and two recent graduates (i wont mention the recent players names to save them from any recourse from Buzz and the staff). They stopped in after a busy night on the town.

Why I mention this, is because I want to hear some feedback on the tip left by Diener. He bought a handful of drop bombs for some in attendance and his bill came to $54. Tip left? $6 (11%).

Now, woudl you expect him to tip more because he is a professional athlete? Is this tip appropriate? Is he cheap? Or has he just paid attention to all the former professional athletes who blew through their resources to become poor later in their lives?

He's at a college bar in the summertime. The whole idea is to be cheap. Besides, it's simply an easy task to roll 3 Jackson's off the hand so I'm sure he thought nothing of it at that time of morning.

For fair and balanced, I've been with him when he's dropped a tip larger then the cost of the drink at the InterContinental's bar.

I'd stay away from the current players but no harm in naming recent graduates.

Eh, drop shots don't take too long to prepare, although I always tip more than that unless the bartender is a douche.  I'd call someone cheap if they tipped less that $5 on that bill, but I feel Diener comes in just above the minimum permissible level.

It's probably Caffrey's, and I've never tipped well there. Never really deserved a decent tips for crappy drinks.

However, I think it lies in pulling out three $20s rather then getting another $5 out.

I can understand the large tip at the Intercontinental.

I just wanted to gauge what everyones thoughts would be.

Can anyone tell me the salary Diener is pulling down? Too lazy to look.

20 % would be appropriate and certainly the minimum for an NBA millionaire.  $11.

Personally no matter the bar its always a buck a drink for a tip. No matter what the drink. You people complain that you should tip more if you have more money. Are you the same the make fun of athletes when they go broke. Hold on to your money Travis, with Jarret JAck and TJ ford in town who knows how long you will be in the NBA. Save that money.

Yeah, I've got no problem with that tip.  What'd it take, 2 minutes to whip up a bunch of shots?

Seriously, there should be no shame in that tip. If anything they should have given him the shots for free for all the business he brought to the place (before and after games) while he played at MU. I mean its pretty damn common to comp guys like him even though he isn't an all-star he is a quasi Mu celeb.

Why tip more at the Intercontinental than at Murph's or Caffery's?  I would think he would drop a little extra green to a student behind the bar rather than some doof at a hotel bar

This is my tipping method when paying for my drinks in cash. If I have a tab then i tip 20%. Both, I feel, are pretty standard tipping methods.

To Reinko:
Intercontinental and a campus bar, although both bars, are not on the same playing field. Intercontinental's drinks will cost you more and with that, if you tip by %, your going to tip more.
