Wow...

agreed........Pastner has a sterling reputation -- if Buzz can steal him from Lute, holy cow

bma725

If he can get Pastner, that would be a bigger coup than any player he could have gotten as a recruit.  The guy is a stud, one of the best assistants in the country both recruiting and coaching.

Folks here may like this line...

"His dedication to the program can be seen in the outstanding play of Arizona's front line.  Former Wildcat All-Americans Luke Walton and Channing Frye  each flourished under Pastner's tutelage.  Both showed marked improvement each season under Pastner, eventually turning themselves into NBA draft picks – Walton a second-round pick by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2003 and Frye a first-round pick of the New York Knicks in 2005."

When Buzz said he was only going to higher the best, he meant it.  I think I just might adopt Texas as my new home state!

avid1010

I said I was happy to give Buzz a shot, but I wasn't as confident as I'd like to be on the hire.  He still hasn't won a game, but he's putting himself in a good position to win more than a few.

Have to try it as well.... Tome Crean Who ?-(

cheesey

I saw Coach and another guy in the union yesterday.  All I saw of the other guy was that he was wearing a blue jacket with a red and white "A" on it.  Hopefully this isn't just a coincidence.

I'd be thrilled with this hire!!

Can't disagree with anything that's being said here about Pastner. Frankly surprised U of A wouldn't do everything in their power to keep him, as there has been talk for 10 years about him eventually being the head man there, but if not, this would be an absolutely fantastic hire for MU.
GO WARRIORS!

This sounds almost too good to be true.

I think just about anyone can recruit for U of A------what Buzz needs to succeed is a guy next to him who can coach!

Murff, we will have to disagree on this one to an extent....yes UA has some great things going for it.  But Pastner, if we hired him, was on the cutting edge of internet recruiting when it first started.    He played as a walk on at UA if I recall and then really went to town on recruiting in a different way.  Very creative guy and he's young and hungry.

He also started his own AAU team for awhile so he knows how all that "fun" stuff works, too.  Out here in the west, he has a very strong reputation.  I could see him making this move because it's hard for him to move up at UA.

If Buzz gets this guy, that would be a terrific hire in my opinion.

Yeah?  What did he do, hit up their MySpaces?

Agreed and I'm sure Buzz also agrees.  That said, this would be a coup for MU.  We've got plenty of room for assistants.  I am sure Buzz will hire a x's and o's guy.

While Josh has obviously recruiting inroads in his native Texas, his many years at U of A resulted in a valued presence both in AZ and CA. Should Josh become a Warrior's assistant, MU would have instant credibility with any recruit nationwide.

This would be a terrific hire for Buzz and the University.

I probably should have said electronic recruiting.  Pastner was very big into text and electronic recruiting and utilizing those loopholes that existed.  He's a young guy, he gets technology and how kids use it today...he's new school if you know what I mean.

No offense, but if the guy was in for an interview, do you really think he wears an Arizona jacket to the interview?

I know what I saw.  I just wasn't sure if it was Arizona's A logo.

If he's from Arizona, it's probably the only warm jacket he owns.

Yup...from what I've seen that's not at all disrespectful or inappropriate.

Ahh, gotcha.  Thanks Chicos.

So I mean...if that meant text messaging guys on their Sidekicks and e-mailing/Facebooking/MySpacing...dude...a middle school kid could do that!

But naw, this guy sounds like a real go getter.  It'd be a nice pick-up...guess Buzz doesn't just recruit players!
