might have a few transfers--at least that is the word i'm hearing right now.

You were a pitcher on the MU club baseball team a few years ago, right?  I hope you're wrong, but I suspect you are right for a few of them.

muguru

Exactly, if you know a couple people are leaving, then you know who they are. If they are leaving what does it hurt to say who??

I want this quote to serve as a reminder to the vast majority of scoop posters in regards to the MU BB program.

Someone likes to use google.

I wouldn't want a Badger club baseball player spreading those rumors.   ;)

craftyvet has some pretty good sources and has been correct many times in the past.

Crafty is right. MU will be losing 2 to 3 shortly. Before bashing me, I take no pleasure in this post either. Two probably gone with almost any coach.

Well, some people leaving are a good thing. I hear that there was a season ticket open, as one of the former season ticket holders was moving  on.

mufan924

i appreciate his credibility, but did he call them out by name before? just curious...dont need the names now, but wouldnt mind knowin his street cred. wow we all are pretty concerned about the mu program

well let's put a positive spin on this... if Buzz is really such a great recruiter, we should be able to replace these Crean "scrubs" with Buzz's studs!!  WOO HOO!!  Bring on those 4 and 5 star players!!!

none of the names would necessarily be shockers.  hopefully everyone returns!

If Wes, McNeal, James, Hayward, Burke, Acker still here, I am ok with that, and they all will be.

Well i'd feel a LOT better if Trevor was back... we have NO veteran height after Burke next year.

Christopherson reminded me of another fine recruit in Menard, the guy could not even dribble with his left hand.  Hazel please.   Buzz can replace them in 6 hours

mviale

I bet these guys were leaving even if the legendary Tom Crean was still coaching MU.
You heard it here first. Davante Gardner will be a Beast this year.

Daniel

Well, Buzz will do whatever he thinks is right - and if some leave, then they do.  Does anyone know who is out there still avaialble for the 2008-2009 season that Buzz could even go after?  Are there any?  Who are they?

shaquilvaine

Among the things one doesn't look forward to is a letter from the IRS, a call from your doctor in regards to test results or a post from craftyvet.  Those of us who've followed these boards for a while realize the vet is solid in his sources so a transfer or two must indeed be imminent.   :-[

madtownwarrior

if cubillian goes, can he take Coobeys Oil Depot with him?

how do you get 9 guys leaving within 12 months (not counting seniors who graduate)....

Coobeys Oil Depot

The funny thing about all of this that is going is that the MU website has the 08-09 page up with Williams as coach and the returning players and corrected class listed. (http://gomarquette.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/marq-m-baskbl-mtt.html) Also, they all showed up for the press conference. Don't see that too often even when the players are staying much less some leaving.

And, madtown, this is the math:
2 incoming recruits in Williams and Taylor
3 transfers in Mbakwe, ?????, ????
4 players in their last year of eligibility

I was sold that Buzz was a good hire for continuity. On April 1, 2009 he will have lost 3/4 of the roster he inherited. That's not continuity.

madtownwarrior

Counting the graduating seniors is idiotic.  We could have hired Bill Self or Roy Williams or reincarnated Al McGuire and your claim would still be true that we would lose 4 seniors.  You can't blame those 4 on hiring Buzz or lack of Buzz being able to hold the team together.

It's clear you don't like the hire, but be reasonable in your arguements.

drewm88

That's 5 at worst. You can't count graduating seniors, especially the walk on.

Daniel

You might be able to lay the transfers on Buzz, but incoming and graduating - no way - he did not create the coaching exit of TC, and well, we are proud at MU that our kids graduate.

coach85

From the press conference video, we can see that Buzz took time to "hug-it-out" with the team.  But, it looked like Trevor and Christopherson were the only two that did not get some love...........conspiracy???

ChicosBailBonds

Nick Williams said tonight flat out, he's not coming.  He likes Buzz, but he's not coming.  Reported by Channel 6 news tonight in Milwaukee as well.  Williams will not be at Marquette.

You're all missing my point. The main selling point of Buzz was continuity. When 3/4 of your present roster will be gone the following April why are you so consumed with continuity? If you are going to lose these guys anyway, why aren't you making experience the number one criteria since we will need someone who has either built their own program or re-built a program in dire straits. Why are we hiring based on 30 games next season when we should be worried about the next 180 games over six seasons? This screams experienced Head Coach. Not a one-year detour Head Coach.

I'm not blaming Buzz for the Seniors. I'm saying that the continuity aspect is shite and that's the only foundation people are laying on when building their Buzz argument.

jutaw22mu

wow i got banned from the scout board for posting that this is a possibility.

and by the way, hazels facebooks seems to indicate hes "on his way out"

madtownwarrior

so the continuity argument is crap, maybe the administration hired Buzz for something they saw in his ability to coach, recruit and to be the representative iof Marquette basketball...

maybe they just liked what he brought to the table (over the other candidates) or his future potential
