Coach Crean,

Thanks for putting MU back on the basketball map. Thanks for the final 4.  Thanks for helping us get to the Big East.

Most importantly- Thank you for representing Marquette University the way you did.

Sir Lawrence

Too soon.  Right now Tom Crean is dead to me.
Ludum habemus.

MUEng92

You are a bigger man than me.

My only thought right now is, wow, there actually is something that can make me cheer for the Wisconsin Badgers two times a year.

MUsoxfan

I agree with Sir Lawrence.   Thank you very little, Crean

PuertoRicanNightmare

Pathetic! He's been trying to leave for 5 years and you're thanking him? I'm sure our juniors do not feel the same way about our classy ex coach right now.

I hope the check for the soccer stadium cleared!

Agreed. With 9 years left on his MU contract...and he goes to the Big Ten which makes it a million times worse!

I have never wished ill upon someone and their family. However, PRN, I wish ill-fated times upon you and your family.

Thomas' Danish Delight

No crap...thanks very little to Crean if this is anything but a very widely-involved and elaborate April Fool's Joke...even if it was, Crean crossed the line and pissed people off.

Naw, bull feces.  This homosexual-buttocks move makes the Lopez twins look like class acts...this move by Crean...would make the Lopez twins make Wes Matthews look like Nutter.

Son of a bitch, Crean.

If he is gone, I hope we pull a season-long Stanford the way they beat us without their coach.

mosarsour

Thanks for Dwyane Wade.....That's all.

mu-rara

We all stand up for you, cover your back regarding your high pay compared to the results we've gotten, and this is how you repay us and your team.

FU

Doctor V

completely agree Mike

THANK YOU COACH CREAN

youve done so much for this program and have personally made my MU experience better with the product you created

Best of Luck

MUSF

Everyone needs to calm down.

If no one else will say it, I will.

Crean took a better job. I don't think he should be killed for that. He didn't make a lateral move, like he could have with Illinois. He did leave at the first opportunity. He stayed until something better came along. Seth Davis today called Indiana a top 7 job, even with the issues. Crean never sold our program short. He always carried himself with class and he built a solid foundation for our next coach.

RawdogDX

Any of you who aren't grateful should re-evaluate what this man has done for our program.  What attendance was, how much national press we've gotten, what it was like to be a contender in the big east under him, how much we've loved the players he's brought in.  It's silly to be mad at someone for making a choice that he felt was better for him.  WHat do you people do for a living?  Is there any jobs out there you would leave for?  Would you expect your coworkers to talk about you like you were a traitor?

The reason we are mad or hurt by this is because he's done so much for us.  It's silly to let this taint his years of faithful and productive service to the institution we love so much.

MUsoxfan

No.   The reason we're mad is because he lied to us.    He told the university and the fans he'd be here through 2017 when he signed his name on that (worthless) piece of paper.

Thanks for Dwyane Wade.....That's all.

Seriously, ask yourself, all of you Tom Crean d/r's....without DWade, would our program be where it's at now?

Okay, no doubt, props to Crean for getting Wade in the first place, recruiting is probably one of his better strengths.

HOWEVER...and I don't know that much history, but was Wade a priority for Crean?

NavinRJohnson

Not sure why it has to be one or the other. I am very grateful for all he has done, however, MU also did plenty for him, made an unbelieveable financial commitment in $ and years, and he has chosen to repay that by leaving with 9 years left on his contract. FOr that I think it is reasonable to be just a bit pissed off at him. That's the way it works unfortunatley, but it still stinks. He feels its better for him, and that's cool, but I consider it a weak move on his part. Again, if he had just a few years left on that massive contract, I'd feel a bit different, but as I said earlier, the ink on teh last extension is barely dry.

Figures that some meat head sox fan would have a hard time understanding that this is the way the world works, why don't you go shank someone.

Preach.

ChuckyChip

Before everyone gets all high-and-mighty about honoring contracts, don't forget that there is a good possibilty that MU will hire a coach from another school who is under contract to that school.  That's the way the game is played, like it or not.

Hey, hey, hey .... let's leave Chicago's only World Series champion of the last century out of this, OK?

But yeah, that post was stupid.
Unless someone finds me a quote from TC saying "I'll never ever leave Marquette" than he's not a liar. There are probably a half dozen jobs out there for which he would leave MU. Unfortunately, Indiana turns out to be one of them. Unlike Kevin O'Neill, I wish Crean no ill will.

jos7287

Yes, thank you Tom Crean for bringing MU to the national spot light, which you have done.

But you are a sleezy man for leaving with 9 years left on your contract and deserting you team, and more importantly your junior class which will most likely all return next year.  That is not something that a friend and a mentor does.  Where I come from your word and your signiture mean something.

Have fun in the big Tom

Are you really serious? Why do contracts have buyouts? Don't coaches get fired while under contract?

I'm sure Crean's contract deals with this situation in some way. We aren't the first school to lose a coach.

And so you wouldn't have been mad if he left in 2 year?  oh wait there would be other kids who are JR's and so's and he'd have 7 years.  ANd in 4 years he'd have 5 years left and kids who are jr's.

You would never feel happy, never not upset, he made a choice based on what he thought was best for him and his family.  appriciate what he did, be sad he had to go, but he has to do what he thought was best for him.  The same way every person on this board makes choices.

MUfan12

I've defended him as much as anyone, but this is bull. Turns out PRN and co were right, it's all about him.

warriormom

Totally agree that you can be very grateful for what Crean has done AND be very angry that he is leaving.  I do NOT wish him well.  I hope he fails miserably and realizes how good he had it here.
I don't think the student section at IU will be cheering for him.  Don't think the IU faithful will be happy with one and done in the NCAAs.
