I don't think Weber would be a good idea. I think that program has moved backwards since Self's recruits graduated.

Pearl's probably a pipe dream, between his success at UT, and his animosity towards us while at UWM.

HelixAir6

I agree on Weber as well, check out his '09 class verbals, if we can bring those guys with, that would be nice

I love the idea of Bruce Weber. And I think he would consider it.

really? you talk crap about creans recruiting and then say this- dude grow up you are a joke. weber cant even recruit his own family members. he won with a team that he inherited and has destroyed the team since.

you have lost all credability, if there was any left

Weber has some great great great recruits coming in.  Paul, Richardson, Crandall Head, among others.

What about Jay Wright?

Like the guy at lot. 2nd favorite   Current favorite coach in the BE, but it's a lateral move.

nyg

Can't see Bruce Weber and Jay Wright leaving their current jobs.  Weber just recruited an outstanding 2008 and 2009 class, but his program has gone down since his arrival.  Don't need no negative waves.  Wright would almost be a lateral move from Villanova.  Lavin, Knight, Montgomery, Pearl, Skiles no way.  Agree with previous thread re: Sean Miller.  He would be exceptional selection, but once that PITT job is open, goodbye. I stand by my pick of Anthony Grant from VCU.  A well versed coach, who would relish an opportunity to be here and would be the first African American coach at MU.

what about making a run at Bruce Weber?

he's from milwaukee, coming to MU from U of I may be a lateral move, but I have to believe he's sick of Illini nation, I would be.

better facilities, he doesn't have the pressue of the standing in Ron Zook's shadown and the budding football program.

his recruiting has improved, I can honestly say Crean's classes are about as talented...

As the son of two SIU grads, that isn't a bad idea.  He raised Southern Illinois from an unknown program.  His recruiting isn't bad.

AlumKCof93

First of all, Bobby Knight, come on?  Why don't we just go after John Wooden.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Scott Drew from Baylor.  He's from the Midwest, successful, MU has better facilities and tradition.  What's not to like?

How bout Mark Few from Gonzaga??? What ever happend to Quin Snyder from Missouri????

cubkid97

Commit to us, commit to the jersey, commit to the people here. They don't want to commit to the Indian, let's go upstairs and get them out of here~!

Doctor V

i think its good that MU will be able to somewhat pick and choose- a result of where crean has the program

bad thing that osu job opened up- that is gonna get some press to go along with the MU opening

SGWarrior

Are Chris Collins and/or Wojohowski from Duke ready????

Steve Lavin

Any talk of Steven Lavin should end with "April Fools."

4everwarriors

I can provide Bruce's phone number, but he ain't coming.

1. Sean Miller

1A. Tony Bennett

2. Kevin Stallings

3. Davidson's coach
"Give 'Em Hell, Al"

MUDPT

Tony Bennett.

One of the huge reasons he declined Indiana was his sister's relationship when she was fired/ let go. That being said, would there be any acrimony between him and MU over previous recruits?  He was on with Ryan after his dad left and I remember he was the main recruiter of Butch.

86Warrior

If we reach for an asst----it should be Wojo from Duke.

CWSKeith

It's only been mentioned once, but I like Chris Lowery (sp?) from SIU.  Defensive-minded coach, and while Marquette isn't a huge program (in the grand scheme of things), it's certainly a step up from the Salukis.

nyg

No assistants please. Especially Duke assistants.  Think Quinn Synder and Tommy Amacker.

MKEblue

Just spit balling here b/c I think miller is our guy but Ronnie Arrow and Jim Caple from South Alabama and Oklahome. There both solid coaches. again just spit balling here

MarqGold17

How about Jay Bilas...Guy knows his stuff and runs one of the best summer camps every year, not to mention a small stint as a Duke asst. I know its not very practical, but can you imagine him as our coach. Interesting. Sink your teeth into it. Besides he's the one analyst who actually knows what he's talking about. I think he would make a decent coach, and would give us the name splash we so desire.

I love the idea of Bruce Weber. And I think he would consider it.

Bruce Weber would be my first pick.  MUHS Alum with Illinois ties.

Second would be Sean Miller, although I hate to take another quality coach from fellow Jesuit Xavier - they have lost too many good coaches over the past few years.

OR or or... just thought of this... is it time for Mark Few to leave for another Jesuit institution?
