Sean Miller
Tony Bennett (would he leave WSU?)

Most importantly to me- someone who isn't going to bolt in the next 5 years...

wheresthecake?

NavinRJohnson

I like both of those choices. Makes one wonder if this may be why Tony Bennet "turned down" Indiana. Perhaps his move to MU is the second domino.

muPARTY

(start list)

Sean Miller!

(end list)

btw- Bennett wouldn't leave WSU, he pulled his name from the IU search.

dwaderoy2004

Bob Mckillop from Davidson.  But I guess I would prefer someone a little younger...

The IU job is a MESS. I don't blame him for not wanting to go there.

Detfan23

In no particular order:

Buzz, Miller, Anthony Grant, Lon Kruger, and Bennett

Or so the story goes...If he however found out he was second choice to Crean, obviously he beats them to the punch and puts the word out he's not interested, perhaps because he sees an opportunity to return to Wisconsin. As much sense as Crean to MU makes sense, Bennet to MU makes sense. That said, I love defense - love it, but I am not a big fan of his style.

MUSF

NO TONY BENNETT!!!!!!!!!!

Do we really want to go back to that brand of BBall?

PuertoRicanNightmare

Give me one good reason why Buzz Williams should even be a candidate! Because he was such a hot prospect at New Orleans? A school he abandoned? Or because he got two unqualified students into MU?

nyg

Day late with Darin Horn.

Go with Anthony Grant from VCU.

CTWarrior

1.  Sean Miller

2.  Montgomery from Stanford (pipe dream)

3.  Whoever is most likely to keep our current recruits.

No to Bennett, O'Neill, Majerus.  Dull basketball.

Hobbes:  What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin:  Nobody thinks I'm a genius.

That's why Sean Miller is out in my mind, he's waiting for the Pitt job in my opinion....but don't worry, we've been told here time and time again how folks will be beating down our door.  Should be a walk in the park and then the new coach can go down to the grocery store where all the 6'11" studs are just pick up a few of them too.  I just hope the new coach doesn't have a tinge of olive in his skin, I'd hate to have that become an issue.

Niv Berkowitz

Sean Miller.

Cottingham should be on a plane to Cinci right now to meet with him. We need to have someone in the next two weeks to ensure the team returns next year, and we don't lose recruits. This is awful.

I'm mad...but at the end of the day, I understand IU is much higher profile than MU.

But at the end of the day, I was furious they hired Cottingham full time earlier this year. It's his time to shine and all our hopes are on his shoulders and I'm not confidant he's up for the gig.

Again, MU better NOT bring in an assistant. We are big time now. Playing with the big boys.

Doctor V

bob knight? i wish. i like bennett and miller. scot skiles is another name to through out there

Ahoya06

Outside-

Miller
Bennett
Darrin Horn (wishful thinking, getting him to back out of the SC gig)

Internal-

Williams
What about coach Rab?

passion of da coach

what about making a run at Bruce Weber?

he's from milwaukee, coming to MU from U of I may be a lateral move, but I have to believe he's sick of Illini nation, I would be.

better facilities, he doesn't have the pressue of the standing in Ron Zook's shadown and the budding football program.

his recruiting has improved, I can honestly say Crean's classes are about as talented...

Or Steve Lavin, way back when he was hot for the DePaul job?

Unfortunately Cottingham is on a plane to Colorado with the Women's basketball team...

SGWarrior

1. Miller
2. Bennett
3. Buzz

so he can leave here still a young man when a "better" job comes up?

Sorry, just bitter at the moment - he would be a great hire if you could get him.

marquette09

If Skiles wants the job it should be his, he would be a tremendous college coach, however you would have to worry about him bolting back to the NBA

PuertoRicanNightmare

I love the idea of Bruce Weber. And I think he would consider it.

NavinRJohnson

Can't believe it took me this long to think of it...

Bruce Pearl, Come on Down!

I know a lot of folks don't care for him, but if Cottingham has not already made the phone call, I would suggest he look up the number.

Niv Berkowitz

Can we drop all the "ties" to Milwaukee? That should have no bearing at all on this search. And anyone that honestly says Knight is a moron.

Bennett is a hot name but I don't love his style.

Kruger
Miller
Montgomery

And it is too bad Horn just left WKU or that would have been a decent start.
