More Big East bubble talk...Forde likes Louisville

Written by: Emmett Prosser

College basketball fans will all start chewing the NCAA bubble gum a bit earlier than normal today. The first game of the Big East tournament -- Syracuse vs. Villanova -- could decide one of the last at-large spots in the 64-team tournament field.

Is your team losing sleep this weekend? Andy Glockner of ESPN.com gives folks a glimpse of the games that could decide the last few bids this weekend.  Gary Parrish of CBS Sportsline says eight Big East teams will dance to the music.

In his Forde Minutes column, Pat Forde claims that Louisville...not Georgetown...is the favorite to win the Big East tourney.

Marquette fans will be pleased to read that Forde has little faith in Seton Hall. However, they probaby won't be thrilled that Forde also predicts that Wisconsin will carry a second Big Ten trophy home.

What do you think Marquette's chances are this weekend?

It will be interesting to see how MU approaches tonights game.  If they come out and play with a purpose, with great defensive intensity, I'll like our chances in the BE tournament and be excited for the NCAA tourney to begin. However, if they come and out and play like they did at Syracuse, now only will I expect a loss to ND, but I'd expect us to lose in the first round of the NCAA regardless of the matchup.
MU has come out flat in the conference tourneys and the NCAA tournament too many consecutive years under Crean.  My hope entering the season was that Crean adjusted his approach so the team would ready to go at this time of the year.  Tonight's the first test.

I think we've got a much better chance in the NCAA than in the Big East tournament. As for the Big East, I wouldn't be shocked if we lost tonight and I wouldn't be shocked if we won two.

Frankly, I don't really care about this tournament unless we make the finals.

agreed.  IMO, the conference tournaments are equivilant to college football bowl games....something to watch on tv (maybe, in the case of football).
