Quote from: MU82 on October 14, 2026, 10:32:43 AMFlores isn't a head coach because he didn't fit in with the good ol' boys ...

When now-Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores was up for consideration for head-coaching jobs in 2024, recruiting firm Korn Ferry compiled a memo about the coach that was awash in racial stereotypes, his lawyers said yesterday. The memo came to light as part of Flores' discrimination lawsuit against the NFL and several teams.

The memo said Flores, who is Black, was "polished and a good presenter despite growing up in Brownsville, Brooklyn (same as Mike Tyson)." It also said Flores had gotten opportunities to "socialize and learn how to build relationships with white-collar and upper-class individuals," but added he "can fool you with his polish upwards" and "has little people skills." The case continues to proceed toward open court.

This is huge for Flores' case.

Reason being is I truly believe the main reason he isn't a HC is cause he is (or at least was) an pretty boy who was difficult to work with and his results weren't good enough to put up with it (especially if they thought they could get Payton). I think there has been a decent amount of non-circumstantial evidence of that.  That is not uniquely a racial problem (see McDaniels, Josh).  Also, interestingly, it seems that, beyond lack of success, a majority of the Belichik coaching tree from NE having comparability issues once they become HCs.

Subsequently, nobody wanted to touch him during an ongoing discrimination lawsuit against the NFL, which is completely reasonable and understandable on various levels (liability, distraction, etc...)

That being said, this memo, specifically the Brownsville background call out, is enough of a bad look to cast some doubt on everything.  Sounds like it was written by a 75 year old man who doesn't talk to anyone under the age of 50

All my opinion of course.  I was pretty keen on Flores to get the Bears job back in 22 when they hired Eberflus, but was alright with it not happening when more of the behind the scenes stuff from Miami came out.

Yeah, I think two things can be true...

1. The main reason Brian Flores isn't a head coach is because his previous results weren't good enough to deal with his prickly personality.

2. This memo is terribly racist and the NFL should be prepared to write a nice check to Flores soon.

I'm not sure how the entire NFL gets held liable for the contents of a private consulting firm's memo. Or how exactly the contents of said memo - while no doubt playing into stereotypes - proves a league-wide conspiracy to discriminate against him.

I think they'll settle so this goes away.

I wonder if Flores will settle, though?  Feels like he might see this through.

Oh, absolutely. It benefits neither side for this to go to trial.
Same with the Gruden litigation.

Not if he wants a head coaching job, and I think he would be a candidate for one after this year given his defense in Minnesota.

Maybe, but I don't see how it benefits him to have his former assistants and employers publicly testify to what an a-hole he is.
Remember, we're only seeing the parts of the Korn Ferry report Flores' lawyers want us to see.

We're only 5-0. Plenty of time to f&&& this season up for us.

Montez Sweat just cost himself a bunch of money and his job in Chicago. I was never a fan of the trade to get him and the money he was paid. In totality, was not an awful deal, but no doubt a bad trade and sign. Poles continues to be a C+ GM.  :(
