If they went the collective bargaining route wouldn't that only affect the P4 conferences? What if the BE and A10 don't participate and telling player you don't have to belong to a union while offering better deals to basketball players than the P4 collective bargaining agreement. After all the P4 is more about football.

This was part of the new agreement:

The larger cap is intended to prevent circumvention by including all athlete deals with universities and associated entities, such as multimedia rights partners, corporate sponsors and apparel brands. Affiliated brands can ink deals with athletes outside of the cap, but they must attest that those deals are not school-funded or directed.

Well, that clinches it ... there won't be any cheating at all after this is implemented.
