Quote from: Small Orange Soda on March 07, 2026, 03:35:28 PMYou're probably right.

Just wanted to give him a shoutout for his contribution today. He's certainly played worse. Obviously this season has been a huge disappointment, but Chase's back to back threes, Ben's putback dunk and stout defense at the end, plus Caedin playing several solid minutes...it all contributed to upsetting a top 5 team. Not the biggest reasons, but it was nice to see.

That being said, three more years of Nigel and Adrien is gonna be a problem for the Big East. Nigel deservedly gets the headlines, but man, Adrien is a beast.

Nice post. I'd be shocked if Nigel is at MU 3 more years. 2 more at most. If DO can take a big step this off season, and Alex Egbuono can step in and be an immediate contributor for the next two years...and we can land a physical big in the portal - team should be well positioned for two exciting seasons ahead.

Quote from: Pakuni on March 07, 2026, 04:49:31 PMSo, in the last week MU has helped get Kim English fired, possibly wrecked UConn's hopes for a 1 seed and broken Dan Hurley's brain to the point he may get a suspension?

I believe Nicholson is expressing his displeasure there about f..ing rats. Is this also a reference to Hurley?

I don't know. He's probably 5'11 so I'm not sure if he'll be seen as much of an NBA prospect.

But he is an old freshman, and maybe he doesn't want to be a 24 old senior.

Anger management, no?

The last time we won 2 straight was our first 2 games.

Don't forget Stevens and what he did to close the 1H.  Those were tenuous moments.   It very easily could have gotten ugly and away from us, but the young man delivered in a massive way.

This was the biggest stretch of the game to me.  When Nigel went out with 3 minutes to go in the first, I was hoping we just kept the deficit to single digits going into the half.

Then Stevens decided to took over and completely swung those 3 minutes.

We haven't seen it much, but we're at our best when we get solid contributions offensively from all 5 starters.  We saw today that this is possible.  It also changes the geometry of the floor when Chase & Ben make a few buckets.

I'm between 5'7 and 5'8, you'll get no bias from me. Just realism

Yesterday and this whole season are perfectly summed up with a golf analogy.

You're playing eighteen holes.  You're slicing every shot. You lost a dozen golf balls.  Broke 2 clubs and threw one into the water.  Got a sunburn and threw your back out.  You promise yourself you are dropping your clubs off at Goodwill on the way home and never playing this stupid game again.

Then, on the par 5 18th hole you crush your drive, put your approach shot 2 feet from the hole and nail the eagle putt.

Walking off the green to the clubhouse you tell yourself, yep, I'll be back here next time.

His birthday is listed as January 4, but no year is given.

I think I saw that he turned 20 on January 4, 2026.So,  he would be 22 going on 23 his senior season. That isn't that unusual for college athletes, many of whom attend a year of prep school before college or are held back at some point earlier so they can be more mature as high school athletes.

Put another way, he would be a full 2 years younger than Nick Boyd this year and Tonje last year.

Definitely A March Shining Moment!!

I was at the game yesterday.  I realize the students were on spring break, but there were a few hundred.

Question:  Why no court rushing?  Best game of the year, Hurley tossed, #4 in the country?

Was there a memo?

Yeah, I was there as well and kind of wondered. But it was a weird  situation with so few students right behind the baskets with nothing but empty seats and the gold tarps behind them.

Court rushing? For beating UConn? Not so much.

1SE

I mean one of the biggest upsets in MU history right - at least recent history? Maybe Wojo's win over Nova? But that was an NCAA 10 seed that was 13-6 coming into that game (28th in Torvik).

On our end, there were at least two large security guards blocking the one aisle from the student section to the court. Not that that matters.

Eh, I'm ok with no court storm.  I've always thought it was better left for beating a number one team (but I understand it's fun and did it myself for a much lesser opponent).

I was unable to attend and had to watch the game on delay but it seems the crowd was louder than they have been all season.  It must have been very cathartic for those who attended after such a long year.  Can't help but think that kind of attendance and engagement by the fans and most importantly, the fight the team displayed under Shaka's leadership is pretty reassuring for recruit's and current player's families that MU is/was a good choice for their son.

The NBA style security structure of the Fiserv forum, which includes metal barricades and raised seating in the lowest level seats, would make court storming physically difficult. The way it looks someone would have to physically scale the barricade and fall several feet to the floor just to get to the court. Security guards could also help prevent that from happening.

I'm glad that Marquette was spared the embarrassment of storming the court over a regular season victory that didn't win a championship or anything like that.
