Or maybe he realizes it's pointless to engage with hateful, Godless people like you.

No, he's fine with fascism overtaking the country.  A lot of people are.  A lot of people who are the hateful.  The racists, homophobes, misogynists, transphobes.  The ones that invoke god but turn a blind eye to injustice, inhumanity and poverty.

But the rich are getting richer and that's what Jesus would want.

Charlie Kirk, the inverse Colton Burpo?

I've sat back and watched the discussion on Charlie Kirk through the last week in this thread very quietly. I think there's on simple conclusion we all must accept:

No matter how reprehensible the speech, nobody deserves what happened to Charlie Kirk. Hard stop.

Our family was touched with political violence a number of years ago. For those of you who remember the judge murder in Lafayette County, WI, the victim was my wife's first cousin. The victim's family suffered unmeasurable pain and the murder left a young wife and two small children without a husband and father. It was awful and still is.

Ditto for the legislator and her husband killed in Minnesota. Or for anyone else who suffers through this.

I get many people in this room didn't care much for what Charlie Kirk said. Frankly, I disagreed with much of what he espoused as well. I barely knew who he was until he was murdered. But whatever I think doesn't give me the right to silence someone I don't agree with. The only way we silence them is at the ballot box and in trying to convince others of our position.

As a final thought, some of you may remember Larry Flynt. His publications were disgusting and he was shot and wounded for his view of what should be in the public domain. As much as I disliked Flynt, shooting him was horrible. It reduced the shooter to Flynt's level.

So you sat back and read through this thread "very quietly," and came up with the most generic and obvious conclusion???

Wow. Thanks for the insight. Really got us all thinking there.

Yeah, I'm not sure where all this "celebrating" his death is happening. I've seen people that aren't a fan of what he believes, but no one celebrating.

Of course. But some need to use a term like "celebrating" to justify their desire to silence all dissent ... except for the dissent they agree with, of course.

Wrong.  When you point out what someone has said or done, that's celebrating their death.

We have established an appropriate grief meter in this country now.  You will grieve at the appropriate level or you will lose your job.  Moving forward, all people that pass away must be grieved the same.  No exceptions.  If you see any exceptions, please report that person to the company they work for.

For example, if Ilhan Omar dies and anyone celebrates it or points out why they disagree, that person needs to lose their job and be ostracized.  Those are the rules of society now.

It's been a week now - can we stop praying for Charlie?

I don't think the prayers ever lasted this long for any of the murdered school children.

I'll save my prayers for the kids who die from not getting vaccinated - not some racist homophobe.

Now that he's been canonized by our Dear Leader we must pray to and for St. Charlie every day.

Why does being godless matter? Please elaborate.

Is it just your god, and everyone else is godless?

No one deserves what happened to Charlie Kirk? No one? So we should abolish the death penalty eh?

Then let's go a but further, did all those who were executed after the 2nd world war. Did all of them also not deserve what happened to them?

Where is the line? Lets not make hyperbolic statements.

I'm old enough to remember when cancel culture was bemoaned by conservatives because it was canceling rich white guys who were accused of sexual assault and harassment.  Now cancel culture is people not properly morning a racist, sexist, homophobic bigot.

Imagine what this administration would do to someone who said some patriot should go bail out Tyler Robinson.  You know, like Charlie Kirk did about Paul Pelosi's attempted murderer.
