This was one of the most poorly coached seasons I've ever seen. Couldn't even draw up an out of bounds plays. Didn't have the heart to tell Joplin not to dribble or catch the ball in a triple threat position. Blind loyalty and lack of leadership. Sad. "Relationships"

Obviously, you didn't watch the seven years of Wojo. Good Lord, they didn't defend the inbound pass on D or execute the inbound on offense for crap for 7 God Damn years. This is the first year it happened under Shaka and he'd lost his best passers.

Ok well I'm counting...that's 1.  We will see. In theory this was a collection of way better players than Wojo ever had and probably one of the most disappointing when it's all said and done. Should have walked away with a resume like 2010-13.

Somebody does. How about Shaka and the AD.

As a whole, grateful for another NCAAT appearances and a mostly ranked season.  Still in disbelief we were a top-10 team just two months ago. We regressed in production and didn't get better as the season went on.

Hoping there's a serious reflection about the roster next year.  What's coming back and what's coming in probably isn't as good as this year's team, sadly.

That is what is so inexplicable.

My favorite staple of the Wojo era was high hedge with our centers on pick and rolls, only to be regularly burned by post finishes by their big, or an easy kick out for a three because our centers weren't quick or athletic enough to get back down lol.

Ellenson.  Fischer.  Heldt.  John.  Different players.  Same result.  The talent didn't fit the (defensive) schemes.

The thing that gets me is nit how we played yesterday.    It's hiw we played poorly for over two months - and that could not corrected.  I'm certain the coaches and staff were trying to fix it, but it just did not happen.   That's what is frightening about this season.    A spiral down that could not be fixed.     From a top 10 team to out of the top 25 finals week, and then this.

We got outmanned and outplayed yesterday.    But that's because the problem of two months could never be fixed.   Baffling .

Quote from: Big Papi on March 21, 2025, 09:31:01 PMThe biggest difference between the 2 teams was NM had an inside presence. Huge advantage.

Most good teams do. We had none.

It became easier and easier to defend our offense because all teams had to do was seal off the paint. Layups became harder and harder throughout the year. Which gets me to midrange  jump shots but we all know you can't bring that up with the extreme viewpoints of all mid range jump shots are evil.

The CoS does not believe midrange jumpers can ever help you win a game.

That is vintage Dodds.

Now I have to go over there to see what non excuses he included in his analysis.

At least Dodd's points out roster construction as an issue...  cant be said for the CoS...

Analysis from the mind that thought Wojo and his staff were the best MU coaching staff since Al.

Quote from: GoldenEagles03 on March 21, 2025, 08:56:02 PMThat New Mexico team isn't very good. Dent is a fine player, but that team is so easily beatable.

We collapsed down the stretch of the season, and down the stretch of the game. Not ideal.

Laughable. They beat us and yet you think they are easily beatable. Their D was excellent and their big fella ate us alive.

Someone mentioned earlier we need a true center.Totally agree with that sentiment. The lack of an inside game hurt us in BE play against the top half of the conference all season.

MSU will beat them by 20.

He's actually making a really good point. But it's funny that he thinks his analysis is actual analysis.

They can easily beat msu. they are better than We are. Dent is more useful than the great kam jones. they have an elete big and other good players and defenders. I love the high and mighty lobo guy coming on this board acting like they made the final four cause they beat a lost Marquette team that limped into the tourney. Yay

Yup.  My soul is intact and at peace.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Not sure why anyone would think this was "a hell of a game." And, the game was not decided in the last five or six minutes. It was obvious from the outset that our guys were really struggling with NM's quickness and aggressiveness and having a really hard time against NM's defense. Even when MU clawed their way back to a brief lead in the second half, NM was  in no real danger because our guys were running out of gas. I didn't know whether to be more impressed with NM or disappointed in the way our guys played. I finally decided that it was simply the inevitable ending to bad second half of the season.

Unfortunately felt the same way right from the start. If jop doesn't go crazy it's a comfortable double digit win for them. what's up the seeding and match ups? Very unlucky for MU. Honestly think they'd have a better chance beating msu.
