Snark and portal/no portal debate aside, this will be a fascinating look at EuroLeague vs college/G League levels.

We've seen the gap from EuroLeague to NBA.  The EuroLeague is fantastic very high level basketball, but a EuroLeague superstar like Mike James comes back to the NBA at his peak and can't get off the bench for the Nets.  Kendrick Nunn had some nice seasons for the Heat but fell off and wasn't even starting on a bad Lakers team and a HORRIBLE Wizards team but headed to Europe and was the best player in the Euroleague the last 2 seasons, along with Carsen Edwards who had the same issue.  But that's the NBA

Meanwhile, a lot of the Euro guys in college were raw prospects who played in the developmental teams for major clubs or small minutes for the main club. But Ellis has been really good for good teams.

He was the ROY in Italy, one of the top 3 European domestic leagues. Then he got the bump up to Olimpia Milano and has averaged 9/3/5 in the EuroLeague. Even high level NCAA ball is gonna be a notable step down in competition. The best 20-25 players in the NCAA are better than the best in Italy/EuroLeague, but the vast majority of the guys who plays against next year will be less skilled and less savvy than the guys he played against for the last 2-3 years.  And that's not even factoring in his age. I'd be shocked if he's not 1st team BE, especially with a coach like Pitino

Seems like the only team to worry about relative to Fru is Iowa - in that they're literally the only other school he's been linked to. Iowa fans still feel like it's McKeever (SMC) or Scharnowski (Belmont) for them so let's hope we can close things out soon.
