Quote from: brewcity77 on Today at 12:58:00 PMFun facts, Jizzle James is the son of former Miami Hurricanes and Indianapolis Colts RB Edgerrin James. Always Wright and All Wright are brothers.

Shifting gears from all the Matt Heldt comparisons...My favorite names I've seen while perusing the portal news...
      • Jizzle James
      • Always Wright
      • All Wright
      • Armani Mighty
I'd love it if MU were in on Armani Mighty.

Note: To clear up any confusion, the numbers above are not some kind of average/median payment for those positions. It's what players of equal value are receiving relative to the market, i.e. bigs are getting overpaid, point guards are being underpaid.
What are Hamilton and Clark waiting for. Enter the portal, unless that is what Marquette is paying them.

That is not what every player gets at that position. Neither of the two you mentioned would command that.

Dumbo, those aren't dollar values being paid. Look it as "centers are paid approx 1.3x of the "norm"", that's all.

I had read some of Evan's post earlier today and was thinking of emailing him (and others).

I could be missing something, but I think everyone is way the f@@@ off re: what kids will be getting paid in 2026-27.
The portal is NOT closed.

Jokes aside... Hamilton and Clark were still better than two of the shorties who transfered out.

Basically, what this chart is saying is that if all players produced $1 million in value, here's what they would be getting paid in the current market.
So, point guards who produce $1 million in value are getting paid $813K, while centers who produce $1 million in value are getting $1.3 million. The market is overpaying centers relative to the value they actually provide a team.
That said, more goes into determining market value than actual production, such as actual or perceived scarcity. My guess is there are more 6'1" point guards who can produce $1 million in value than 6'11" centers, hence the income disparity.

St. Johns finally lands their PG. A 23 year old out of the Euro League. A lot of former NBA players in that league.

Playing around with the Rostercast tool on torvik (yeah it's too early but I can't help myself), Marquette is ranked #31 for next year as things stand. Adding Fru bumps us to #20. Add Fru and Minessale were #15.

Things will of course change in the next few months, but safe to say adding just those two would be a big help. Hope we get some good news soon.

I believe that leaves Marquette and UConn as the only Big East programs not to have officially landed a portal guy.

Couldn't afford Nigel's $6M contract.

He's never played in college, so this isn't a portal addition.  It's adding a 23 year old who has played 3 years professionally in Europe.

Seems like the only team to worry about relative to Fru is Iowa - in that they're literally the only other school he's been linked to. Iowa fans still feel like it's McKeever (SMC) or Scharnowski (Belmont) for them so let's hope we can close things out soon.

A 12-20 marquette team being ranked #31... that's surprising

In reality, this is college basketball now.

Yes, well, it's WAY to early to use those projections, but does highlight how much other teams lost (i.e. seniors) vs Marquette.  I think (I heard here...) Michigan doesn't return a single starter...etc.  In that way, we might be disappointed to only be sitting at #31.

We'll see where we land after rosters get a little further along.
