You're probably going to find a way to not believe this, but plenty of "deals" over that NIL Go $600 number are not being submitted through the clearinghouse (hello Texas Tech football).

Assuming you are not a CFB guy, but listen to/follow Bud Elliot from the Cover 3 podcast. He has been talking about this for over a year.

Also.. when you refer to Texas Tech.. are you referring to their collective shelling out tons of money PRE-house settlement? Many did that -- that's another reason why thinking there's going to be a massive INCREASE this next year is absolutely idiotic.

Go back and look at the time lines and understand when the current rules became rules, and the timing of the crazy payments last year.

Then, understand what it means going forward for this next year.

Revenue sharing cap is $21.3M for next year. Total NIL deals cleared from inception of new clearinghouse into last month was $166M, with the majority being for football. There's no way the numbers work unless that $166M life to date figure balloons to BILLIONS immediately. It's nonsense.

Linked inside this SI article is an On3 report on how much each Sweet 16 team from this past tourney made. The report is written by Pete Nakos, who is apparently recognized as one of the most accurate intel-providers in the NIL space. I don't have access to the report since it's paywalled, but some of what it details is discussed by the article.

Nakos' reports states the Wolverines spent at least $10 million on its 2025-26 team.

Joining Michigan out of the remaining Sweet 16 in the "$10 million" club are Arkansas, Duke, Houston, St. John's and Texas. Kentucky, who is now out of the tournament, is reported to have spent $22 million on its roster this season.

Three other Big Ten teams remaining in the Sweet 16 come in right behind the Wolverines in terms of spending, including Illinois, Iowa and Purdue, who were reported by Nakos to have spent in the $8-$10 million range on its rosters this season.

Alabama, Arizona, Tennessee and UConn are the other teams in the Sweet 16 reported to have spent in the $8-$10 million range.

Is this nonsensical BS? Because unless you have evidence and alternative figures to suggest otherwise, I don't think anyone has reason to believe it is.

Yes, it's nonsense. However, getting back to the point - there's not going to be some dramatic JUMP this year - you must understand the rules are different today than they were a year ago. We have good data to give us a feel for what's doable, and the amounts reported for last year are not — and certainly a 65% increase from last year is beyond stupid to expect. There isn't a path to get there.

Again - you've got "rev share" and you've got third-party NIL. Understand those two pieces and try to reconcile it either with last year's make believe numbers x1.65 and you should become enlightened.
