I didn't claim to be an expert on this guy, which is why I used the word "maybe". I had never heard of him before but I was able to look up his game by game record.

Maybe he was just lucky to get hot for one game, or maybe he has gotten more comfortable in 10 weeks than he was in early December and was able to take minutes that McGee would have filled and make a positive contribution.

Either way, only a Magoo would deny that the Badgers are a dramatically better 3 point shooting team than Marquette is, and that in this era of college basketball that is a huge asset that can erase other deficiencies.

Nobody in their right mind would have said last February that Wisconsin was a better team than Marquette, even though the Badgers won the head to head game decisively much earlier in the season.

Only a Magoo would use only the early season head to head game this year to decide which is the better team right now.

Good thing I never claimed anything about what team was better right now.

The problem is that none of the next 4 games on maquettes schedule will help there resume. Hell, I'm not sure winning at Uconn will help the resume all that much anymore outside of having one less loss. At this point I think the ceiling for this team is a 4 seed but most likely a 5. I think a 3 would require winning out and winning the BET along with help from teams ahead.

Marquette hasn't played a good game since @Providence last month. Even the win against Depaul was pretty bad. We might need to just accept that they were probably overrated much of the non conference.

We should also accept that besides being overrated, we do not have the horses. No consistent 3 point game and no down low bangers. Maybe Stevie can fill those roles. Only way we can show any real potential is to run the BEast tourney. A really tall task on the Johnnies home floor.

I literally responded to Muggsy that Wisconsin is deserving of their current seeding. The implication is that they have a better resume than Marquette. I have never disputed ANY of those things.  But why would you take the joy away from what was a fun rivalry game in December to lament about where they are now? I mean last year, even though we were clearly a better program, we had people lamenting that we lost to UW.  JFC, can't people just enjoy themselves?

My entire issue with Scoop the last couple of weeks is that people act like the season is over, that Marquette is overrated, and...and this is the the cherry on top of the sundae...that maybe Shaka isn't as good as we think he is.

The best posters are Paint Touches guys when they post actual analysis and Brew who does the same.  The next best is Tower and MU12 who see the good and bad on actual in game play with strategy, good and bad.

The rest is generic cliches and lack of any perspective about the sport or team(s).

I think it's ironic that people get upset if they think a poster is too negative, but actively participate in the schticks that really get in the way of actual discussion.

I'm not surprised which side you're on because you have said that you think those schticks are funny.

I really don't know, and couldn't care less, what Rico and newsdreams think of me because I have both of them (and several others) on ignore so I don't have to see the drivel they post unless someone quotes it. When I see the quotes it usually confirms that I didn't miss anything.

You have to see that you aren't exactly a neutral observer on this issue. Because you are part of the clique that carries on the running "jokes" that dominate the board, I'm not surprised that you would come to the defense of the poster who chided me for not being a proper menber of the "community" for not knowing you were a Lions fan.
