I agree with you, both teams have gotten better, but Wisconsin hasn't really beaten anyone.  If they win today?  I get it, but the fact is they do not have a single win over the best teams in the B18.

Quote from: GoldenEagles03 on February 15, 2025, 12:23:03 PMNo they wouldn't. Stop being so defeatist.

We just had leads late at SJU and Creighton. We're fine.
We've played like butt for two months.  These teams are peaking at the right time, with great ball movement and shooters all over the floor.

Cam hasn't missed a single shot all season. How can you possibly play better than that?

We've played below our standards and still lead late on the road against very good teams. And no, mid-February isn't the right time to peak.

Quote from: GoldenEagles03 on February 15, 2025, 12:18:50 PMIf big wins matter that much, then how the hell is St. John's in and MU not? Same with UW being a 3?

Love that they seeded Kansas a 4 and left MSU out, but St. John's best win is at home vs. NET 23 MU. UW has 1 good win against AZ and a bunch of schitty Q1s against non tournament teams. Makes no sense to me.

The committee hates Marquette. They're still not over Al heading to the NIT.

I don't disagree that we haven't played well for some time.

I don't think they would crush us, but teams that can bomb away like these two are trouble unless MU fixes their shooting.

Terrible call and ejection.  Overreaction.  It should have been a double foul.  Purdue guy swiveled his hips and was moving setting that screen

Other than the fact that you (and I) can't stand them I'm not sure why you think it's an absolute joke.

Their metrics and resume are consistent with that placement.

Who have they beaten?  And remember they essentially played NW and Rutgers on the road with those teams missing their best player.  They beat Zona at home taking 100 FT's.  Other than that, they really haven't beaten a lock NCAA tournament team.

GoldenWarrior11

Arizona and Kansas both have 7 losses and have at least 6 Quad 1 losses.  Kansas also only had five Q1 wins too.

Michigan and Arizona are biggest question marks to me.

This doesn't bode well for the BE either. Our #1 is only a 4-seed, despite them being ranked in top-10 this week.

For MU and Big East, the biggest takeaway of bracket reveal.  Committee is not impressed with the conference

True.  MU needs to punch back Hutch.  And we can.  It's time to get back to erasing players defensively and converting wide open shots.  Especially converting in the paint.

I don't quite see how it's possible for the committee to remain unbiased (ie the chairman being the AD of bubble team UNC). The chair even tried to make a joke where he couldn't even say Duke's name. I think that was supposed to be funny, but it completely missed the mark with me and reminded me of how much politics are involved in the selection process.

They appear to be on their way to adding to their resume.

Quote from: HutchwasClutch on February 15, 2025, 11:57:01 AMSt. John's is #16 and we trail them by 2 full games in conference.  We're not as close as some would like to believe

This statement is incorrect.  The chairman of the committee confirmed MU is knocking on the door of the top 16.  Marquette is 16 or 17 and has a rematch with St John's.  MU also has a better non conference resume.

You didn't answer my question. Now if they win today it's a moot point but there are a number of teams with better resumes.  Including Marquette.

Ohio State and Nebraska are easily in right now.

9-11 projected seeds are not locks right now.

This Purdue-Wisconsin game looks nothing like the BE wrestling matches Marquette has been playing lately.

It's doesn't matter if they're locks. It matters what their metrics say.

Basically everyone agrees they're a 3 seed...except you. You should probably reflect on that.

The Badgers seem to be able to drag any scrub off the bench and he'll come in draining threes.

Have you ever heard of Jack Janicki before today?

MuggsyB

They're playing about as well as you can play in the 2H.  And Loyer has been an unmitigated disaster.
