Giddyup.  Opportunities for greatness await.

Again, the mentally is we are not losing this game.  I still feel very strongly MU is the best team in the BEast.  Granted, we haven't seen it the last few weeks but the pieces are there. Kam is due to break out but we need a complete team performance.  It's not complicated: drain open shots and finish strong.  We are more than capable of owning this game and getting back on track.

Shooter McGavin

I'm with you Muggs.  Big opportunity here.  Hopefully the experience they have accumulated over the past several years pays dividends tonight.

CountryRoads

Hopefully some of the pressure our guys have been feeling has alleviated. Should be a hostile environment but nothing we won't be ready for. Expecting a good bounce back. Is it too early to start complaining about the MSG refs?

Accept that SJU is going to get the calls.

UCONN shoots 37% from the 3 but shot 63% on Saturday. If we play our game, we have a shot, and I don't think the Johnnies will shoot 60% from 3. I would think the team would be more motivated and focused after Saturday's game. UCONN needed that game more than we did. Tonight, we need this game more than St. John's just to prove we can win the "big" game. I think we'll know what kind of team we have after tonight's game.

Every team gets the calls against us, even when we play at home.

I think tonight will be more about what Marquette does than what the Johnnie's do.

Like UConn on Saturday, MU will likely need an out of character shooting night to win the game.

Nope. He lives in Lala Land. It's whatever time you want it to be there.

STJ does not shoot the ball well, but they are very athletic, play defense aggressively, and rebound well. STJ will be a very tough matchup.

Nice to see a realistic take here.

Of course Marquette will be chomping at the bit to prove themselves after the UCONN game. And St. Johns, atop the BE standings and, after years of not being in the spotlight, will be pumped to prove themselves before a loud crowd at MSG. My point? It's going to take a LOT more than motivation to win this game because both sides are highly motivated, and one side has the home court advantage. Rah rah rah is not going to cut it.

The bolded says a lot. Who will win the D battle? Will Marquette's offense look like it did earlier in the season?

Marquette's gonna need to make a bunch of threes. This version of the Johnnies is well equipped to shut our water off at the basket and in PNR.

Stats say the Johnnies defense is elite, will be the toughest we've faced this year.  Even better than ISU.

We can beat them, but it's highly unlikely we'll torch them.  I'll hope for the unlikely regardless.

Agree completely with the threes and SJU D. Stating the obvious-a loss is never, ever a good outcome- regardless of the final score, I think this game will tell us a lot about our team.

Edit: SJU now 2.5 favorite.

I don't believe strongly that MU is the best team in the BE.

More like MU, SJ, Creighton and UConn are all good but not great........we can win the conference but we aren't the favorite........SJ is.

Captain Quette

Agree w those suggesting we need to have above average 3 pt shooting night to win. Pitino knows what he is doing and they are strong defensively. I would take SJ and giving the 2.5. Would actually give up to 5 pts.

JakeBarnes

Have a good feeling. Need Joplin to regain the magic at the 3 pt line. Saw some of it against UConn.

Same with Kam. "Killa" Kam plays looser and more fearless. Lots of those shots aren't 100% conviction from the 3 line.

It really does feel like they are way too much in their heads and not "hoopin" like last year. Target is off for now--get back to feeling like you have a chip on your shoulder and have some fun out there, guys!
