Stay safe out there.  Bundle up.  It is going to get nasty.

I don't know about your time at MU but this still wouldn't have been cold enough for classes to be canceled during my time there.

Never cancelled due to cold.  And, in the era I was at MU, I would have gone to the bars in docks no socks.   Those days are gone.

I remember struggling against the wind howling down Wisconsin Avenue to get to Johnston Hall and then scraping ice off of my eyelashes in the classroom. Cancel classes due to the cold? What a bunch of wimps!  ;D

I hope you have one of those goofy Russian hats to keep from getting frostbite on your bald noggin Tower. If not, contact dgies. I'm sure he had one in his Chicago days and knows where you can buy one.

I have an old school Eddie Bauer, Michelin Man looking parka I refer to as the furnace.  It only comes out for cold snaps like this. Too warm to wear until the temperature is <10 degrees.  Wore it yesterday for a 90 minute walk and broke a sweat.  So old it was made in the USA.

In my time in the early 80s we had two times Thursday afternoon classes were canceled due to snow. We went out and got hammered, assuming classes would be canceled the next day as well.
Spoiler alert....they weren't.
Side note: is it bad that my iPad predictive text suggested hammered when all I did was type in h? ;D

tower912

One day of finals was canceled in 1987, IIRC.   Snow, though, not cold.

Yep. My recollection was that we got way more than was forecasted.

During my career, I have had a few days off due to snow, but only a day and half due to cold. One of those days the high was double digits below zero.

Today, Wisconsin is colder than Hell. Tomorrow, still colder than Hell.

We figured it would be a frigid few weeks around the 20th, so we planned to be out of the country for a ~month.

It's nice watching the hummingbirds. Depending on how cold the next few weeks are, we may stay.

You have to be pretty soft to let a little cold bother you.  LEO's and the troops can handle the cold.  Can't imagine any tough guys letting it stop them from outdoor activities but some are built different

Jan 94, they canceled first day of second semester classes at about 5pm the night before.  So half of McCormick emptied onto the streets, marched to Avenue Liquors and stocked up on provisions.

Something similar in 2011 for 2.5 days. If I could remember it I'd say snowpocolypse was fantastic

That was freshman year.
I needed a great score on my Chem final and I knew I was going to do great as things finally clicked.  Instead I only had a choice to stick with my C grade or take the final sometime in February.  I had no choice but to hang with the grade.
