The lack of rebound in the second half was the most frustrating part. For the most part, it was the Dayton guards that were destroying us on the offensive glass.

BLWarrior91

Let's hope the team learns from this one.  They never should've lost this game.  But they literally gave it away in the second half.

Quote from: Tyler COLEk on December 14, 2024, 08:11:13 PMShocking take from you. Officiating matters in sports—a lot. Athletes are human beings with emotions like the rest of us. Marquette was coasting to a blowout before the refs had their say.

Refs were bad. Not why we lost at all. Did you see all the offensive rebounds? Did you see the lack of stops at the end?

We were out hustled and out worked. Period.

Lost the 50/50 balls. Couldn't rebound. Kam can't keep being in foul trouble every game. Stevie needs to play much better. I like him looking to score when he gets a 1 on 1. They were collapsing in drivers all night and he kept forcing it. Royce will need to learn shot selection at some point in his career.

Can't wait for fieldhouse flyers novel.  ::)

Hopefully, Shaka will be able to turn this 💩 into something that helps the rest of the season

Great victory for Dayton.
They won their super bowl.

The game was very close until the last 90 seconds.  Home team rode the wave.

Quote from: DJO's Jaw on December 14, 2024, 08:10:17 PMThe refs were bad, but we were absolutely terrible in the 2nd. It seemed like we had no backup plan when the defense couldn't force TO's. Stevie played his worst game since maybe his freshman season.

Can't dwell on it too much, it was a bad game in a tough environment. But we definitely still have things to work on as a team.

Yes.  We panicked for no reason known to man.  And the overdribbling was insane in the 2H.  Gotta be tougher and smarter.

Judge Smails

Tough place to play, but we didn't rise to the occasion. Intensity wasn't there. Lots of standing around on offense. Terrible rebounding. Surprised they played so bad when they clearly have the ability to do so much better.

12. Stevie Mitchell had an awful night on both ends.

13. Ben was lost in the 2nd half.

The Sultan

Quote from: Tyler COLEk on December 14, 2024, 08:12:25 PMThey were fouling the ballhandler all night long. The difference is that Dayton got 6-7 of those whistles (to zero for MUBB), and three of them were on Kam Jones early.

You should probably learn how to be less emotional. The refs were as inconsistent as usual. But we deserved to lose that one.

The NC State game was pretty bad.

warriors141

First disappointment of the season. Veteran team completely lost their poise, Kam with stupid fouls, Stevie bad everywhere, wide open in bounds layups, wide open offensive putbacks, stupid turnovers, stand around on offense

Massive letdown after beating Bucky, but I guess no team is gonna be perfect

And Marquette drowned.

CountryRoads

Dayton was so awful in the first half. Should have been up 20. They were super tough in the second half.

Quote from: jesmu84 on December 14, 2024, 08:09:56 PMI'm not sure they played well enough in the 2nd half even with an even whistle.

That said, Stevie's drive near the end was a good example. Fouled legitimately 4 times on his drive before one was finally called

Inability to control defensive boards killed MU.  But our defensive intensity was stripped from us with the tick tack foul calls on Kam, and Dayton was very physical with us - Posh on Kam particularly.

The amazing Chase dunk was yet another example of us getting bodied like crazy and no call.

tower912

So many things out of character.  So little movement on offense.  So few emptying out a side and ghost screens.  First time all season the rebounding was a serious issue.  Stevie completely lost on both ends.  Ben being g outplayed down low.

Pathetic.
Your posts in the game thread say everything we need to know about what kind of fan you are. Ready to fall into hysterics about this team at the first sign of adversity. Being a whiny, aggrieved brat is too comfortable a place for you and way too many scoopers.

We had 2 free throws to cut the lead to 2 inside a minute. It was a very close game. Just panicked at the end.

AlienWarrior

poor rebounding, lack of height, no transfers, SOS

Nah. They just missed shots that game. They were out played tonight.

As opposed to blaming the refs when the it was obvious the team was clearly outplayed?

Extremely frustrating loss but not a "bad loss".

Kam really needs to stay out of foul trouble. Don't even give bad refs the opportunity. His 3rd foul, which was completely unnecessary, changed the game.

Inbounds defense - brutal.

Turnovers leading directly to buckets - brutal.

Defensive rebounding - brutal.

Stevie was very bad. It happens.

Chase was ridiculous and we should ultimately all be thankful he's ok. I'll trade the loss for his health any day.

You obviously never want to lose a game but this is a good learning experience.

Butler should be scared on Wednesday.

You're not exactly on my list of people I take living well advice from.

Unless you're just trolling? I can't tell anymore since your insistence about Kam Jones being doubled in the Iowa St. game.
