Except in baseball. There's no crying in baseball.

Hard to see on the replay what may have happened. Sure didn't look good, and if Zaide avoided ligament damage that would be a huge win (and surprise to me.). Big loss for this team if he's out for the year.  Prayers up for Zaide.

Tyler COLEk

My expert analysis of Shaka's press conference is no major ligament damage but probably a moderate sprain. 4-6 weeks.

Quote from: PGsHeroes32 on December 01, 2024, 11:56:43 AMCompletely different injuries. So we will still have to see on overall severity

But people have got to stop referencing Zaides tears and reaction. I've seen it a ton.

In the moment pain, is a thing. Shock, is a thing. Crying is a thing.

Ahsworth for Creighton vs Nebraska had a reaction of an injury that they kill horses for.

He was playing basketball like 5 days later

Yep, I remember the pain, the agony, the tears, the shock one time in the gym.... And that was just when I missed out on last call. But I was back in the gym the next day, ready to go.

Quote from: tower912 on December 01, 2024, 11:59:26 AMIt is part of the story.  Indicating he was in intense pain in the moment.

Exactly. Sophomore year at the Rec Center I went to block a shot and got my thumb ripped backwards tearing ligaments. I tried my best to ignore the pain and keep playing. The next time down I got hacked on the hand on a putback attempt and screamed out in pain so loud the court next to us stopped playing. Sometimes the pain radiates through the body so intensely and tears are a natural reaction.

On Thursday I was playing against a 4.6 guy. He took a pickleball to the knuckle and re-opened an old wound. Blood everywhere. No tears though. He had to stop playing because the ball was half red from his gushing blood.

A little bandaging and he as back on the court in 5 minutes. Albeit with a blood-stained shirt.

Hope Zaide can bounce back quickly too. (But I'm VERY concerned and feel awful for him).

I've always wondered .. for all sports injury moments when the player doesn't want to put weight on a leg .. why not a wheelchair?

Totally common, quickly deployed, inexpensive apparatus that'll safely transport the injured.  Yet no one uses it, opting for the three-guy shoulder shuffle.

Our guy Dwyane Wade used one... when he dislocated his shoulder.

Probably because of this...

Obviously expected but no Zaide for depth wednesday definitely hurts

Hopefully Shaka continues his Big12 revenge? dominance.

I love Zaide and keep hoping it's not a season ending injury... Ben Steele's tweet was cagey by just saying he is out for ISU which was a given and didn't tell us anything new.

However, this could be a blessing in disguise as it will mean more minutes for Damarius Owens who looked scary good in the last two games and will be an impact player for us this year with more minutes given to him.  Yes he will make freshman mistakes and force things at times and be in the wrong place defensively at times... but overall the more time he is on the floor the better off Marquette will be as the season progresses.

Hopefully Zaide is only out a month or so and able to come back in January for the conference season as we definitely could use his talents as well. 🙏🙏🙏

I'm looking at Lowrery's absence this way.

His minutes in the 3 most competitive games this year (Maryland, Purdue, and Georgia) were 10, 8, and 10.

Norman's minutes were 13, 6, and 7

Owens' minutes were 4,5, and 9

The obvious result for Wednesday's game, and others in the near future, would be that Owens and, to a lesser extent, Norman would pick up minutes that Lowery would have gotten otherwise.

Owens should be more game ready now after getting his feet wet in the other three games and getting more minutes in the two buy games last week. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets 15 to 20 minutes against ISU and maybe more if needed because of foul trouble.

You always want everyone to be healthy to provide the most depth and flexibility possible. But, when you only have 10 available scholarship players in the first place, situations like this are almost inevitable.

This could end up being a great learning experience for Owens. He has already displayed great potential and confidence along with the expected freshman moments. Hopefully the veterans can help him realize that he will need to let the game come to him and not force too much.

It wasn't "cagey." It was a factual statement based on the information he has received. Steele is a reporter, not a fan-board speculator.

Well, the first update isn't out for the year. So that's a positive.
