Following a player's mom on social media is...weird.

She followed my account first. Is that weird too?

I agree with this analysis.  It's like Yellowstone meets Brokeback Mountain.

Because they didn't register the player's names

Do fans have access to practice?

Off topic but if we're allowing gambling on college sports (duh), at some point we need injury reports, right?

Oops. Didn't catch that one said Tre.

Focused on the topic of Zaire's injury.

Quote from: wisblue on December 02, 2024, 01:48:42 PMOwens should be more game ready now after getting his feet wet in the other three games and getting more minutes in the two buy games last week. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets 15 to 20 minutes against ISU and maybe more if needed because of foul trouble.

You always want everyone to be healthy to provide the most depth and flexibility possible. But, when you only have 10 available scholarship players in the first place, situations like this are almost inevitable.

This could end up being a great learning experience for Owens. He has already displayed great potential and confidence along with the expected freshman moments. Hopefully the veterans can help him realize that he will need to let the game come to him and not force too much.

Damarius will have a lot of awesome games this year, but I would be pretty shocked if Wednesday night was one of them, and I'd be very surprised if he played 15-20 minutes.

Hope I'm completely wrong, because if he plays 20 mins and has an awesome game on Wednesday I'll be ready to crown em!

Playing on the road as a frosh, in a hostile crowd, against an ELITE defense is no country for young men, especially those early in their careers that haven't played in that type of scenario before (the 4 mins at Maryland doesnt count for this exercise)

Add to that the bravado that DO has, the confidence and swagger to handle the ball amongst crowds and try to get results- which is a great thing for a talented young freshman to have- but when you combine this with the point above it usually can result into trouble.
His handle and dribbling ability amongst high pressure has been his weakest offensive attribute thus far, and Wednesday will be a daunting task for every MU ball handler.

We will see the upperclassmen play 33+ minutes barring foul trouble, which you rightly mentioned as the biggest reason to get those minutes.

......
Now that I think about it, however, with Zaides injury the first 4 off the bench are Tre, Parham, Owens, and Caedin
3 freshmen and a soph
So shite, maybe he will get that run whether he likes it or not, so we can ignore everything I said and hope for the best

Hope he's able to fully practice come September.

Obviously much better to have him back this year but he'd be eligible for medical redshirt as he's played less than 30% of the games right?

If the injury is deemed "season ending," that is correct.

Yes, super plain vanilla medical hardship waiver if a doc says he can't go the rest of the year. He'd then have 3 years to compete 3 more years.

Haven't we learned from following social media in the past that sometimes people just post to post?

Yep. My guess is that there may be an announcement sometime today. The fact that there has not been a formal one (beyond out for the ISU game) worries me. In this case, no news (so far) is not good news, but to be clear...I am just speculating.
Wild horses couldn't drag me into either political party, but for very different reasons.
