Cooley's ego has always been huge, but it's been verging on psychotic since moving to Georgetown. He has about 16 months to turn things around or he's going down in spectacular fashion.

That's sort of where my head was at.  He took 10+ years of goodwill and positive vibes about him from the rest of the BE and lit it on fire in 18 months.  Went from an opposing coach most people liked and respected to another shiesty douche of a CBB coach.

Maybe refrain from calling other programs names when you best win at Georgetown, other than a 13-20 ND team last year, is Fairfield and you have 1 NCAA win over a team seeded higher than a 12 in 20 years of being a HC.

I didn't know coaches must only say nice things about other schools or else they're trash. Unless you're an IL or Underwood fan, I don't understand why this would bother anyone.

I don't think you have to say NICE things, but that doesn't mean you go out of your way to insult another program. But yeah, I doubt this would even bother Brad Underwood who arguably is a better coach anyway.

He is a good, but not great coach. Winning at Providence isn't easy. And he had the best record there since Pitino - better than the likes of Rick Barnes. Do people think he is rated higher than that?

Georgetown had to back up the Brinks truck to hire the guy, but they would have had to do that no matter what because  not many would leave a good gig to go to Georgetown. And I think their problems lie way deeper than the coach. They're just an irrelevant program and have been for a long while.

Remember way back when one of our guys (I think it was JJ) in the post game interview on the Milwaukee court said "Georgetown was lazy"    GT was still a good team back then. If I recall, our visit to DC later that season did not end well.

I started this thread and never was offended or thought it would be offensive. I just found it interesting and didn't understand where Cooley was coming from.

Seems like Hutch is the one looking too much into this.

Ok for full disclosure, my JD is from Illinois, so they are kind of my second team, though I don't follow them like I do MU ( though their NCAA Elite Eight win over Arizona was one of the greatest games I have ever attended, bar none).  I don't know if offended would be the right word, but I am certainly mystified, puzzled, and think it was a really stupid comment. I hope it becomes bulletin board material for the Illini.  I can't imagine what this Board would be saying if someone said that about MU.
