The Hippie Satan of Hyperbole

Quote from: The_Blaze on November 13, 2024, 09:55:27 AMGood guess but no.

And if that was a secondary intention it clearly didn't work.  Marquette's acceptance rate is 87% - if you can pay the outrageous tuition you are in.

It's 2024. Outside of the elite institutions, everyone's acceptance rate is high.

Look at the Ivy's.  They have to take everyone now

Current acceptance rates: top 3 Ivy.
----------------------------------
-Harvard:   3%
-Cornell:   4%
-Dartmouth: 6%
-Baylor:   46%  - private, similar ranking to MU
-DePaul:   70%  - private, lower ranking than MU
-Marquette:87%

Many private universities outside the top 50 are getting hit hard as it is difficult to rationalize the increased cost compared to similar state schools where in state tuition can be less than a quarter of the private institutions.

Marquette's acceptance rate is scary but we have a secret bullseye which may come to maturity soon.

I'm kinda digging this Blaze poster.

I didn't mean to imply that. Just that a guy coming here to portray Marquette's acceptance rate as "scary."

It's fine. Most schools don't really care that much about it any longer. And the only public universities that are generally doing well these days are the flagships. The regionals are facing many of the same enrollment and financial issues that a lot of private schools are facing.

Marquette is absolutely fine. Nice endowment. Strong reputation. Building enrollment on nursing, business, engineering, etc. is exactly where a school wants to be these days.

And getting to the point of a scary acceptance rate by originally letting everyone know that the name change to the Gold on the date of 5/5/5 is a crazy conspiracy that we'll soon know all about.

I will agree that Marquette's status, like many private institutions, is somewhere between fine and scary.  I am a MU grad so I will continue to root for MU on and off the court but the reality is that it may get worse before it gets better.

Until then let's wait for the canon to fire.

So I'm thinking we killed and buried Goldie and now we're about to dig up the treasure that is his body to help the school's endowment.

you either conveniently, or NOT forgot MUSOD and the school of physical therapy which has been a real unsung hero as well.  i have a friend who lauds the PT department as be brings his quadriplegic son regularly.

the dental school however, needs to overcome some "other issues" in order to break out of the pack.  it has more to do with personnel, but the infrastructure is 2nd to none

adding a PA program to the College of Health Studies was a brilliant move on the part of the university leadership. PA is one of the most in-demand programs and occupations these days. It is already rated #27 nationally, tied with Yale, Bucky, Cornell, and Tufts, among others.

I didn't include every program, but yes the PT program is a gem as well. Those are all programs with high student interest and generally have lower discount rates.

The problem with the School of Dentistry are its alumni. Really make the place look low rent.
