Does anyone have a rough guess what this monstrosity costs?  Wonder if there's a big enough chit storm they replace or amend it? or if wade admits he despises it?

It really doesn't look that bad. All depends on the angle really. The straight on image doesn't look the best, but these are fine.

Looks like they made his jawline to squared on the strait-on viewpoint.

I don't think art needs to be a perfect representative of the person being honored.

I suspect you're just being the devil's advocate here - and that's OK. I'll agree that the representation needn't be perfect. But I don't think this was meant to be a Picasso "guess who this is supposed to represent" piece of art. Without the Miami #3 jersey nobody (including DWade) would guess who it is. That's certainly not rule of thumb for a piece of art meant to honor someone.

I agree but you should know who you are honoring.  The same people did a Kobe statue.  It's not spot on but you can tell it's Kobe.

We'll agree to disagree. The statue isn't what I would call avant-garde. It's is an exact rendering of a basketball player, just one who doesn't look anything like DWade.

To paraphrase Steven Wright, take a look at the Washington Monument. I've never seen the resemblance to the man, though I appreciate that it honors him.

I think it's awful, but Wade's giant IG story right now includes some pictures of him looking at the sculpture during the process of it being made.  Seems he knew what the sculpture would look like, and he seems extremely excited about it all.
