The Open Championship at Troon will hopefully provide some competitive excitement similar to what we saw at The US Open. Troon is a course with a very tough set of finishing holes . As always the weather is a big unknown at this event .

Rory seems to have gotten past his collapse at The US Open. Was very forthcoming in his interviews this week. I like his quote that he said he was telling friends about that Sunday at Pinehurst  " It was a good day until it wasn't"

Bryson , Morikowa, Aberg all shoukd be in the mix. Ouisthuizen has not been in a  Major all year. Seems in relatively good form, good be a darkhouse if its windy conditions.

At the Open Championship in 1989 at Troon, Greg Norman was in a 4 hole playoff with Wayne Grady and Mark Calcavecchia.

Norman birdied the first two holes and then bogeyed the 3rd playoff hole, choking away his lead.  On the 4th playoff hole, he hit his tee shot into a bunker and then after punching out, blew his third out of bounds and choked away another major.

Had a good career.  Kiawah '91 would have sunk a lot of men

Not as good a career as Norman. And Kiawah '91 was probably the worst multiple choke in golf history this side of Rory's recent one.

No Van de Velde?   No Hoch?   No Sanders?  No Mickelson at Winged Foot?  No Arnie at the Masters?   Johnny Miller had the right of it.   Most choke at some point.

Home grown hero Robert Macintyre edges out Adam Scott to win Scottish Open. This is Roberts second win in a few months. Is in good form heading into The Open Championship.

Tiger might have trouble making cuts these days, but he can still deliver the occasional zinger. He had a good one in response to Monty saying Tiger should retire.

I've played Troon a bunch.  Pretty easy course.  I played this spring with Anders Holch Povlsen.  He shot a 77 and I shot a 69

It is a different mindset.   I can see him winning one when the weather lies down.   He talks about not even thinking about the golf ball and only focusing on his body movements.   In links golf with weather, you can't just expect the same results with the same inputs.

Agree with that.  A baked-out, sunny 4 days at St. Andrews would be a spot for him
