Quote from: The Sultan on August 13, 2025, 02:26:26 PMThe league clearly would rather have a team in Boston than in Hartford.

I mean, its more severe than that.  They'd rather have a team in Boston than literal middle of nowhere Connecticut.  Hartford would be one thing but its almost an hour from Hartford.  Its basically equidistant between Hartford and Providence.  Its like a WNBA team playing at Ho-Chunk if it was in Fond Du Lac instead of the Dells, absurd either way.

I am responding to why the WNBA may be using a technicality to force the team's move to Boston, instead of selling it to someone who would move them to Hartford.

Yeah, brutal injury year for the Fever, who looked like a championship-caliber team going into the season.

Just watched the Taurasi documentary on Prime. Better than I thought it was gonna be, especially the middle episode about her time in Russia.

I'll have to check that out. I listened to a really fascinating 30 for 30 podcast about her and Sue Bird, and the owner of the Russian team they played for (The Spy Who Signed Me).

Caitlin Clark is still out with an injury, and tickets to tonight's game in Indianapolis were available for $9.

Less than a year ago, Sandy Brondello coached the Liberty to their first championship. Today, inexplicably, she was fired.

I hope the Storm has already called with an offer to fill their vacancy.

And she got them to the Finals the year before.  This is essentially firing her for 1 bad playoff series.  More than a little shocking.

She was very much liked and respected by her players, too.

This is just bizarre.

I read that Wade said A'ja Wilson could beat some NBA players in one on one.  I'm gonna assume he was joking.

An old neighbor and friend is the HC for Phoenix, so good for him, but I'm huge fan of Phee and I was bummed to see her and the Lynx go out, especially with the disgraceful officiating in game 3.

Tibbets got a lot of flack when he got hired for lack of experience in the women's game and how highly paid he is, but he's acquitted himself very well this year.  Took a team that lost 5 of their 6 top scorers/MPG leaders and got them to a Finals appearance.

Little quirk I noticed yesterday, he had a bunch of timeouts late in the game and he called them IMMEDIATELY, I mean the instant they got possession, on rebounds late in the game, presumably to prevent any sloppy or nervous turnovers under the basket.  Thought it was really smart and helped them stay in control while Minnesota was in desperation mode.

Nate is a guy who grinded his way up to ranks and got frustrated seeing former players with no coaching experience get HC jobs while he lingered as an assistant, who when the opportunity in the W came along he jumped.

Cool that you know him, Billy. He's a really good coach. He runs a sound, creative system, and he seems very well respected by his players.

Lost touch with him after he moved on to Orlando. His wife and mine were close but when they had twins she moved into mom life so they lost touch, but I have a ton of respect for Nate as a coach and person.

I do find it interesting that MAGA twitter hasn't been up in arms over the physical play in the Lynx/Mercury series and specifically that it cause Phee to miss the most important game of the season. Strange....

Sounds political... tsk, tsk.

Lynx got jobbed. Time to shut down the league.
