I would have rather played DePaul
« on: March 14, 2024, 10:54:53 PM »
1.  Two teams very familiar with the other's offense, very intent on taking away what the other wanted to do.
2.  Villanova's focus was to take away the lane and the driving lanes, as well as to slow the game on both ends.
3. Oso looked groggy most of the night.  Lost on offense.
4. MU got to the rim in the second half.
5. Stevie is my favorite player on this team.  When nothing else was working, Stevie was.
6.  Chase needs to be more assertive at the rim.
7.  Kolek's absence was felt in the difficulty in generating motion against a set defense.
8.  I wanted more Gold, less Joplin in the second half.
9.  MU played good defense all night.  Phenomenal, except for Dixon
10.  And all is forgiven and forgotten.   Great finish.

Ack.

Premature celebration

Neptune as coach of Nova is very good for MU.

Nova players threw Stevie to the ground like 12 times with no call.

Neptune basically attacked the ref at the baseline after a no call on a nova basket.

F’Nova.  Have fun in the NIT.

Exactly. They’ve ended our season enough times.

It would’ve been a very Wojo thing for Neptune to win this game.  Squeak by DePaul, beat Marquette without its best player, and take literally all the credit for it with people calling you the next Jay Wright times Coach K divided by Bob Knight.

Instead, Marquette, without their best player, ended that sh*t because of their great coach and the dudes they have on their team.  Awesome CBB game.

For as many great coaching jobs by Shake this year, I thought this was one of his worst. If not for the plays at the end of regulation and end of overtime, it might have been his worst.

Fun game. On to tomorrow.

Doubt Tyler plays given the physicality.

Oh and Shaka should have used his bench more. They were gassed in the second half.

Shaka stuck with his guys tonight.

Norman maybe four minutes in first half, believe no play in second
Lowery maybe four minutes in first, did not play in second. (wasn't very good tonight)

Gold played and made two key threes and did not play for final 13 minutes.  I don't understand it because Joplin was a walking time bomb.

Probably players exhausted now and bit hyped up, but Providence has played two games in two days.  Go get em guys.

Need a point guard for next year. Kam gets stretched side to side. Need someone who can break down the defense, collapse the defense, and kick. Kam is doing a great job when needed, but he’s best scoring off the ball. Defenses can bottle us up with him on the ball the entire game.

Gritty as hell. Big East wanted their NE semifinal. Sorry to crash the party.

Oh he played in 2nd half. Took maybe the worst shot of the season, then didnt play anymore shortly after.

Excellent win for MU. Proved our guys can win without our leader in a win to continue game.

Looking forward to a tough battle with Friars on Friday night

Q1 win without Kolek. Wouldn’t be that if it was DePaul. Metrics also would’ve dropped had we not won by 25+.

Sheeeesh. Gutty win. Wasn’t pretty but survive and advance.

I also wouldn’t wanna play Nova if I were a 5/6 seed. They won’t make it but that’s a tournament quality team. Dixon is a dude.
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

Metrics have little value now. It’s about the easiest path to progress.
