The Thing

In the initial top 4 seed reveal Marquette was the third 2 seed. Since then they have lost to UConn twice and Creighton once and lost their floor leader to injury.

Why are we so sure they are not already a solid 3 seed despite what bracket matrix says?

So, Karaban does occasionally miss open 3 point shots.

Because Q1A losses don't really hurt you.

Because other teams have lost too. It's almost like MU games don't occur in a vacuum.

UConn is 2 for 12 on their 3 point shots so far.

Would have liked to have seen that last week.

Karaban and Spencer are a combined 1 for 6. More misses than they had against MU in the whole game.

No, they'll need to win the whole megillah

Love the Big East's identity as a physical conference, but I think at this point it needs to be reined in to an extent. Plenty of obvious fouls not called in the early going for SHU v SJU.

Didn't see the game, but looks like UConn did UConny things in the second half.

We gain nothing with regards to the NCAA tournament by playing DePaul.  Nothing to gain and everything to lose.  Now, you can create this "why would we be scared of DePaul" narrative, and whistle dixie until the end of time, but that doesn't change basic facts.

We're now playing a tean who needed a game winning shot to beat them, with their tournament hopes on the line, at full strength. We're competing in tbe BET without our best player and every team is capable of crapping the bed.  My contention is our NCAA seeding is far more important than making the BET SF.  A loss to Nova will make little impact whereas a debacle loss to DePaul would be a Q4 loss and could drop us to a 4.  Lastly, I fully expect our intensity and drive to be their this evening vs a game with a dumpster fire program with 3 wins.
I'm as nervous and negative as they come before games (I truly believe it comes from living and dying with the perpetually snakebit Red Sox in my formative years) but we'd have throttled DePaul and would not have needed to over-exert ourselves which would have had us in a better place for a semi-final against Creighton/Providence.  We would have gained an easier path to the BET championship.  Climb the ladder in front of you.

They should have relaxed.  Jumping on UConn early reminds me of Mongo from Blazing Saddles.  "Oh no, don't do that, don't do that. If you shoot him, you'll just make him mad."

Well, they would have missed the vote if they hadn't turned them in. At least if you are talking Big East.

I'm excited to see Hurley against Pitino in the Garden.

Uncle Rico

Watched the game from a luxury suite with David Frame and we both commented on how interesting it was Rick Pitino's rant didn't cause him to lose his team.  Also interesting how his team has had the results it has had versus Ed Cooley and Georgetown.  As David told me, leadership drives all when it comes to winning.
